The best Full Forward is always a tough call but I will stand by my call until the season gets under way at least.

I don't know the Kenilworth ruckman and at 42 if he is as good as you say he is, that is very impressive. I just think that Eagles will prove to be the best ruckman both in the taps and around the ground next year. Anyone who saw him the second half of last season would have to agree.

Im not certain as im only just under 5'10 everyone is tall to me but I would say 6'4 - 6'5 slim build with a massive vertical leap but I would say arm reach and leg speed would be his main strengths.

Should be a good contest then and sounds like they have more than a few things in common off of the field as well.

Also Zed I missed your question earlier, the game of Div 6 i have seen was the GF between WC and Lockleys, so I based my judgements of the full forwards and ruckmen on Stubberfield and Vessali who were the stand outs in those positions in that game. My opinion is that Eagles and Forrest are better players than both of those, even though i rate both of them particularly Vessali from his time at Portland

it wasnt the greatest game of football to watch imo boosh..and your points are good...i think lockleys were exhausted from the week before against TOS and WC were super fresh and ready..then the bigger oval took its toll on the game once the hawks broke it open..game over at half time it was a boring last hour i guess..

Matt is about 198-199 cm tall I reckon. He's tall and skiny, probably weighs no more than 85kg.

He is one of the most gifted players I have and probably will ever play with, against and watched play. He's only 20/21 years old so he's still got plenty of footy left in him. Our coach, early last season said he was the next Jake Watts, which is an absolute honor to anyone that knows Matt and Jake.

His vertical leap is fantastic and he can run like a midfielder. His lateral movement is also very good. He has to work on his tapping to advantage, I hope pre-season me and my fellow midfielders can work on it with him.

While struggling with injury and form in the first half of last season, he broke the shackles in the last half and was lucky enough to get some votes and finished 3rd in the Div 5 medal. One game stuck out in my mind and will for the rest of my life, when we played Hope Valley at Hope Valley back in round 15. He was simply outstanding in that match. It was and will be one of the best individual perfomances in any grade, at any level I will ever see.

Most of Hope Valley's game plan in that match IMO, was based around Matt and simply trying to just stop him from going anywhere near the footy. He was targeted all day by HV, but rose above it and had such a huge impact in a great win for us.

Again this is only opinion but in a good team at this level I think Leigh Forrest would be the most talented full forward in Div 6 in 2011.

Boosh no matter how much you talk up Forry, he's NEVER going to kick or handball the ball to you. You've passed him the ball countless times while you've played with him, but he'll never return the favor, that's just the way it is!

OK I was at that game at Hope Valley as a spectator and while he did play very well, it is a major stretch to say it was one of the best individual performances you will ever see in any grade... And to say Hope Valley's game plan was to stop him from going anywhere near the ball... They kicked straight to him sitting on our half forward line all by himself every single time coming out of defence. Also Hope Valley's ruckman had a very good game that day and played a very similar roll, he also got his share of taps, So yes he is a good player but I think you are pumping his tyres up just a little. I hope he lives up to your lofty expectations in season 2011.

It wasn't the greatest advertisment for Div 6 footy, there were some good players out there and some not so good players. The skill level was not great but its fair to say that Grand Finals due to the pressure etc are not generally a true reflection of the entire season. I will get plenty of time next year to get a better opinion.

Would be a big fall from having 3 sides last season and winning a C grade flag the year before. Do they have a coach yet? If not, doesn't bode well for 2011.

Boosch the ground on gf day was very heavy under foot and both losing teams had to play on water logged grounds the week before so they were stuffed. We lost to Hectorville in the A's by under 2 kicks and smashed their B's 2 weeks from round 1 and I know both of us had players missing. Plympton beat us no problems when we pretty much put our b's on to play A's and 18's to play B's a week later. Im not saying we'd play finals in div 5 but considering we finished 5th and held our own against the premiers of div 5 I think you may be underestimating the competitiveness of the majority of div 6 sides.

I think trial game form is not a huge indicator North Haven went down to Greenacres by a few goals in a trial but you do have some good points and like ive said I can only base it on that one game, which I totally agree is no where near enough to judge an entire league.

Fair enough then D14, that's your opinion I respect that. IMO that was Matts best game for the year by far and the best game I've ever seen him play. From memory he got 3 votes in both the Div 5 medal votes and our B and F voting, so he must of been doing something right that day.

Yes IMO, HV's ruckmen (Spider?) beat him in the ruck in terms of amount of taps won, but Matt beat him around the ground and had more of an impact in the match, hence why he was best BOG that day.

We all at NH hope he can take his game to next level and has a outstanding 2011, but there's alot of hard work to be put it for that to happen.
