The fish uses this appendage like a fishing lure, waving it back and forth to attract its prey.

The deep sea anglafish (or in this case Pidge) lures in other fish with bright lights (or in this case a shoddy technique) and then eats the other fish up (or in this case the Phantom). Smart play by Pidge really.

 amazing, it all makes sense now! Clever.. i swear at times he looked like he was practising tap dancing with his "interesting" footwork

Morialta batted first and made 133 or there abouts. Big Bryce taking a couple wickets and myself (opened the bowling  ), m frith, clarkson and eddie grabbing singles. We should've had them out for under 100 but i think 7 or 8 dropped catches really hurt us.

We ended up making 100 roughly I think. No major scorers, alot of stupid shots and thinking we had the game in the bag cost us victory. Also, 1 of their bowlers ripped through our middle order taking 5/13.

We were without Barnes and Holland, so it was a very young outfit with Bryce and Eddie the only elder statesmen in the team.

Still, it's only round 2 and im fairly sure teams will still be shaking off the cobwebs so not alot to read into form wise I think.

who was the bowler??

i'm guessing Balneaves, he should win the trophy in that grade this season

No Balvaeves went 0/30 off 5 (was bowling off only five steps and Aaron Frith took 24 off two overs.)
B D'Mello took 5/13 including the last 4/0 in 6 balls

why didnt barnesy play?

7 or 8 dropped catches   who dropped them all?

Barnsey was crook.
We bowled pretty well, Norton, Clarkson, Vanderbyl all taking 2, Rae and M Frith 1
As said it was our fielding (catching) that cost us......11 DROPPED CATCHES....not going to win too many times with that, plus only the Frith brothers made it past 13

Barnesy didnt play coz of his knee i think? Nathan dropped 3 catches, took 2 though. Fridd dropped a couple, and Eddie dropped a couple real hard chances in the slips. His are forgiveable though.

Close??? You wouldve been 20m from the bat ;)
Just kidding mate, thats no good if youve hurt yourself...should we start looking for a new opening bowler ;)

Im suprised to log on and find he hasnt already launched.. im just gonna put it out there, the Pidge got the best of the Phantom tonight :(

but i have excuses, a) didnt want to ruin the poor kids confidence, b) trying to bowl him into some form so he can make more runs the spintwin this season c) the glare from the grass was blinding d) the sandy run up was tough and e) i was too bemused by his batting technique

Last night I saw a lot of natural talent in that group of U21 lads, with the only disappointment being that they represented a mere TWO clubs within our Association - that being Enfield and Fitzroy. I sincerely hope that the other Clubs are also promoting the participation of the junior cricketers at a representative level, as they are the future of our competition.

What was pleasing was the willingness of the lads to listen to advice and work on little things that were identified to help them improve their techniques, and indeed their cricket overall. For them to step out of their comfort zone of what they are used to in Club cricket and want to learn speaks volumes for their character and attitude - traits that the coaching staff value highly.

Pidge, on the other hand... Well, some things are just beyond repair . I thought I had seen it all after watching Mick Feltus bat, but young Pidgey has put a whole new spin on 'quirky' batting techniques. Best advice I can give you mate is 'see the ball, hit the ball'.. Let's not over-complicate things.. :p  I don't like to single just one person out, but for a 15yo, Chris Kennison has the potential to be a gun. If Tommy can keep him away from the loose cars and fast girls in a few years time, he'll be one helluva cricketer. ;)

No room in my house to take on any extra boarders.. ;)

No worries Pete, we know NEK & Morialta are Dad's Army candidates.. :D Although if we shave Plucca down like Aunty Bunny in Eddie Murphy's 'Delirious', he might sneak in as an U21.. We haven't got many in our midst at PV either.

Heard a whisper that ol' Smasha needs to concentrate more on containment than all out attack. Heard he's getting carted all over the shop, and his season's bowling figures so far are ; 21.1 overs, 14 maidens, 3/22

That's an avg of 7.33 per wicket and a touch over 1 run per over. DIG DEEP SMASHA!!!! :p
