RIP Stazz

Postby SDK » Fri Oct 22, 2010 2:38 pm

From the Redlegs web site.

After several weeks of battling illness, good ol' Stazza passed away quietly this morning.
The Norwood Football Club community rallied around him right to the end, and his funeral service will be at Norwood Oval on Friday 29th October at 11am.
More details as we firm things up.
Have a drink for Stazza tonight, he'd enjoy that!

A very sad day for football, a true character and a man who loved Norwood.

Yep RIP to a bloke who played in the golden era of SANFL footy 70s and 80s....

Not sure of the picture of him and Bob Hammond hugging after the '75 GF in the SA Football Story would make a SANFL publication now (unless a little social implement of a former league sponsor is photo-shopped out)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Used to have a chat with Stazza whenever I used to be able to get out to training more often than I can now! Great man, excellent, dry sense of humour. Taught me a thing or two about footy.

R.I.P.

P.S. Funeral service at Norwood Oval 11am Friday 29th October.

Geezus, that's awful news, last time I chatted to Stazza was when he was kind enough to sign a Norwood scarf for my Mum who adored him who was suffering from breast cancer at the time. Stazza took quite an interest and asked more info about my mum and how she was likely to get on.
He'll be sorely missed, my sincerest condolences to his family.

R. I. P.
Met him once, very nice bloke.
Condolences to all family & friends

I kind of remember reading a player profile of him in a footy budget in the 70s.

Very sad news for the Norwood Football Club and the SANFL in general. Mum told me plenty of stories about him over the years and the times I met him, a very dry, funny man with a great perspective on football and life.

Deepest sympathies to the Stasinowsky family at this sad time.

Was a very emotional day. So many people and so many past players and officials, other clubs as well....Russell Ebert, Max James, Ken Eustice, Leigh Wicker to name just a few.
Johnny Wynne spoke like ......like only 28 can ! Brought laughter and tears with his comments about his great mate Stazz.
After the service we gathered in the Premiers Bar and as Stazz would have wanted raised a glass or two in his memory.
Later things moved to the players gym where Ross Dillon kicked things of and several past players stood up on a bench and told stories of Stazz....... except Gags who could not climb up on the bench. Gags told a story about the only player Stazz "feared" for want of a better word....Paul Bagshaw. You never knew what he was going to do.
It was an honor to be present and a day I will never forget. I am, always have been and always will be proud to be a member of the mighty Norwood Football Club ...a family !
