It's based on population and also positions on the ladder.
Obviously the higher you finish the less you have.
So for a club like BD which has relied heavily on imports in the past, a premiership could mean they lose an import or two....

Thats basically it without going into specifics, which I haven't got handy. Although given that Tanunda got caught this year, there must also now be a salary componet - which fits as a couple of years ago clubs started reducing/removing match payments for locals.

IS BLG staying with the salary cap or going with the points system that the riverland has?
If it goes with the points system - salary cap may go.

Also is Mal Greenwood staying at Tanunda?

Former Glenelg ressies player Barry Kaesler's joining the Maggies from Loxton North. Will play FF.

I always thought they used a points sytem, however the salary cap issue at Tanunda was a strange one and made me think there had either been a change I didnt know about or it is a two tier process. I'll try and find out. As for MAl the news at the end of last season was he was staying so I assume nothings change ... I dont pay much attention to what goes on at the blockies :)

I believe BLG don't use either salary cap or points. They work on a "number of imports" basis, so if you dont live in the club's district then you are classed as an import. The club then gets a number of import positions allocated to them depending on the previous years ladder position (I think that how they're allocated).

TG - that's why the question....we're aware they've had an import system.
However, they still had to work under the SANFL instituted salary cap.
The import rule was their own.

So, are they maintaining the salary cap or now going to use the points system?

Not sure then, I believe they would still come under the SANFL instituted salary cap until the SANFL change it (if they do).

The Hills haven't decided yet either on whether they stick to the salary cap or go another way.

Is Steve O'Connor still coaching up there. I heard he had a bit of success up there- bit better than at Kilburn were he had less than successful finals series games. he is an amazing footy director (knows everything and everyone!!).
On Kilburn I here daniel Thomas is heading up BLG way in 07- he will be a huge pick up for anyone up there

Young Danny on his way to BLG huh?
Great to hear he's still around.
Use to love watching him play when he was a kid. Looked so far ahead of the others back then.

ocka has done very well with Barossa premiers last year
Before that he took Willaston to a GF
Both clubs were down and out until he went there
When he was at Kilburn he took them 2 fourths and 2 thirds
One kick away from a GF and in another played with 17 men for 3 quarters Plus all the political crap he had to put up with
Where are Kilburn now........Looking down the barrell and headed to A3
Daniel Thomas is going with him to Barossa

That's a high prediciton for freeling, considering they have lost a few key players,

Interesting you put willaston at fourth? Must be some heavy recruiting done,
