Will be interesting to see who is number 1?

Is it Magary Medallist James Allan, does Callinan deserve the mantle or will Ty Allen get the nod (or someone else completely)

I'm not even going to attempt my top 50, too bloody hard !!!

From an Eagles perspective would have thought Cicca, Grocke and McKenzie would be between 5-15, Powell and Lewis around 35-40, and Rowntree, Parry and Greiger maybe in the last couple or just miss out. Although McKenzie could rate a bit lower as his first half of the year was a bit so-so, but the last half seemed to get back to his old self.

After Hayes missed the SANFL Advertiser team of the year, will he make the top 50?

I'd reckon the team of the year will provide a substantial number, but it's also plausible that some from the team of the year could not make the top 50 overall. eg a back pocket player or a flanker might be regarded in lesser terms than the best 5 CHF players in the league.

Also, Jack Riewoldt made the AFL All Australian Team with about 12-14 games played - it will be interesting to see what criteria are given to be considered a top 50 player.

Grieger? Surely you have to be able to kick to be considered in the top 50 players?

Has an awkward kicking style but certainaly didn't seem to hinder his disposal. He would have won his position in the majority of his games this year I think but seemed to go unnoticed by most, appears deceptively quick too, on quite a few occasions he looked to be totally out of contests but seemed to just get there in time with a spoil. Glad he gave the SANFL another crack, too good to be kicking around in the country just yet.
Trust the process.

I love the way he plays, but I just can't believe he could be in the top 50. I'd have thought Lawry, Silvester and probably Mills would be ahead of him as full backs, and I wouldn't have thought you'd have more than 3 full backs in your top 50.

Lawry yes, Mills maybe, can't say I've seen enough of Silvester.
Don't necessarily see why the Top 50 can't have 4 full-backs in it, given there are 13 possible positions on the field, and can't imagine there would be too many forward or back-pocket specialists in the Top 50. Anyway, I had Greiger as a borderline.

I'd agree with Cicca and Grocke in top 15. McKenzie (based on this season's form) would be 30-40, I would have though Parry would have been much higher (at least top 30) given he has proven himself a top player with Eagles/South/Port

Do you think he was deserving of a spot in the Advertiser Team of the Year Dutchy?

Also, do you honestly think Hayes will rank in the top 50?

 I think you might be right! I was half listening to a radio debate the other day and obviously the half I missed was the important bit!

I guess the point still stands though if you look at someone like Boyd for Centrals - he first played league this year in about Rd 8 IIRC? You'd think he'd be a top 50 player in the league but one wonders if he is 'selected' after missing Central's first 6 games (they had a bye in Rd 2).

Same goes for Parry, had he played the full season, he probably would have had a case for an interchange spot in the team of the year. Besides, if the team was supposed to be picked as a State match, there would always be a change ruckman, anyway. Which there was no 2nd ruckman this year.

Good to see ALL clubs represented with a player in the top 50...

Also, some may make comment on the Doggies having less than 3 other sides, but the lads who wrote the article had this to say about that:

The Localfootysa writers wrote:And yes we realise there are more Norwood, Glenelg and Eagles players than Central District, but that just goes to show the overall evenness of the Bulldogs line-up.
