After living up here for six years now I am amazed that this state has ever produced any top cricketers. The cricket season is invariably started with washouts. Bang on cue every season you hit the nets and presto here comes the rain. In our local comp the A's haven't yet bowed a ball in anger yet and it's supposed to be week one of round two. In the shield match at the Gabba mentioned above they have had about half a session and surprise surprise it's raining again.

So when do Cricket Australia schedule the Brisbane test? November of course. Better pack me brolly.

The Brisbane Test is the first one of the summer for as long as I can remember. Who can forget the storm many years ago at the Gabba before they built the new stands.

Not sure about all of Qld but there's flooding here today. My two workmates are not at work today becuase they got cut off by floodwaters! Starting the season with an couple of away fixtures makes sense to me as far as the Bulls go and I reckon the last test should be in Brisbane not the first.

WA 5-270 in their follow on efforts.

Michael Swart, a 28-year old in his fourth match, batting at three, scored his first first class hundred in the stubborn defiance.

Pomersbach made a fifty in the first innings, the only WA batsman to do so.
