I understand your point catchit but i can certainly say thats not the case at all at the club.

The guys that miss out need to earn their spot where as in the past in was a given, good for all in my opinion and only makes for healthy competition for spots and a strong club.

BL looking the good with 5 imports from last year and you guys were getting up R&C for getting 3.
Bet there would be a few players from last year not happy playing G1
.

flying under the radar the old brahma boys.. not only for the premiership but also for recruiting half a comp.. there would def be a few with there noses out of joint, if its not the grade 1 players last year it would be the B grade blokes that now have to play C grade and the C grade blokes who have to play D grade.. you can get away with 3 imports but 5 or 6??

 and you blokes know that people are unhappy - I think not

generally if people arent happy they dont play - very happy team down at The Lodge and considering our B Grade is basically the same side that won the GF not sure many upset and the C Grade is basically a side of footballers, so think they are happy together
Oh lets not forget we have added an extra one day side from last year

unlike some clubs we dont have to many people with egos that they are bigger than the club - We had one but I think he is at Westies now :D

I would be Confident to win the flag as well with half a new side.
BL must know how to look after players with a few big sponsors on board I’m sure there's a few incentives going around.
Maybe not for the old players but I’m sure the new guys will have their hands out.

I checked the squad last night for the first game, and I think from last year there are Sibbs, Browny, Drewett and Matty in the side, so 7 new recruits. That can only mean one thing, competition for spots through the grades. As Browny said, competition was non existant last year, and I'm sure the previous years were similar. It will get people putting a value on their spot in the squad, and maybe getting out to training. I think Groover will be a big improver this year, especially batting 6-7.

Favourites still SW by a long way, adding Oz and a couple to that list from last year will make them close to unbeatable. Rose and Crown have the bowling line up to compete, it just depends on their batting which let them down at times (bowling pulled them through). I think R&C, even though they made the GF last year, will be the smokies. Cant see many teams making over 160 against them, Feltus and Jimmy will put enough pressure on the batting and Figallo will cash in on this.

Can I just add to this - No money is on offer and if some of the other clubs perhaps were known to be a good group of guys or to have a coach and be even semi professional in their approach they might get a similar response of new players.

Heading to turf may have ALOT to do with it aswell I would have thought??

Oz, very good 180 there. Classic deflection from what we all know, that SW will be very hard to beat, again.

I think the odds should be something like:
SW $1.60
R&C $2.10
OTH $4
BL $6
Virginia $10
Angle Vale $12
Smithfield $15
PG $16

You are right, Reeves will be only available part time. Whether he adapts to Hard wicket will the the key, but same with the other guys who came from ATCA.

I know first hand how confident you can be with 6 imports, confidence turns into pressure because everyone is now out to beat you.. but the real pressure begins in march, there will be no credit given to just making finals "again".. Brahma will be expected to take it out now after a massive influx of players.

Not sure who else expects The Lodge to win it - certainly no one at the club

Isn't this the case normally? You telling me the teams we beat last year weren't trying ;)

Seriously, I think this wont matter as teams will be still out to defeat the likes of SW, R&C and OTH. The bench mark sides from last year. The Lodge will still be in the hunter pack. Results arent a given, they have something to prove.
