Hopefully Tool do a side show, but I'm not holding my breath.

After forking out to see two AFL Grand finals, cant really justify spending that sorta cash just to see them (the other bands dont interest me greatly TBH)

Seriously, what a terrible line-up.

Tool, Rammstein.. is this Soundwave?

The Aussie Acts are good, but the international acts are poor to say the least.

$150 staying in my pocket.

And this post sums up all that is wrong with the current BDO attendees. It has turned into a lollipop festival for teeny boppers. I bet you never attended a BDO in the late 90's or early 2000's ? And only started going once it was commercialised with bands getting SAFM airplay.
This is not a personal attack on you by the way.

I remember a conversation my ex and I had on the way out from the first Big Day Out that no one on the bill had got SA-FM airplay (to that point anyway - Feb 93) and it proved that alternative music had a healthy market away from the mainstream. Mind you things turned to **** (IMO anyway) in the mid-90s when Triple J started playing Alternative Muzak.

Ah memories. The days when you missed good stuff because you couldn't get from one stage to the other in time.

Now that was a Big Day Out, well priced, quality bands, good venue. Back when I used to listen to Triple M :D

The BDO 2011 doesn't interest me at all...until now. Hmm, how much is a flight to Sydney?

TOOL setlist from Auckland. From Gold Coast

Ænema Third Eye
Jambi Jambi
Vicarious Vicarious
Eon Blue Apocalypse Eon Blue Apocolypse
The Patient The Patient
Intolerance Flood
Schism Schism
Lateralus Lateralus
Third Eye Aenema
Stinkfist Stinkfist

Looks like they have the same setlist each time and have a spot for a different song each time. Very similar to the list they played in 2006 (but I'm not complaining). Will probably get a better idea after their next show.

Snagged a freebie to the BDO, so suddenly I need to pay attention as to who is playing!

Apart from Tool, Rammstein and Deftones, is anyone else worth seeing? Im guessing it definitely aint Ratcat playing, cant see them on the timetable...

depends what you are in to MatteeG.

LCD Soundsystem is on their last show and will be amazing,

The Jim Jones Revue are starting to make waves around the music world and if you are into a bit of full on aussie rock airbourne are worth a look.
