New York/New York

Postby Dogwatcher » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:19 pm

Frankie Sinatra set the bar with his love song to the Big Apple, which was interestingly first recorded by Liza Minnelli.

But there have been many other songs about New York, New York, the most recent notable effort being Jay Z and Alicia Keyes.

If you were to make a compilation, what song about New York would you include?
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

New York State of Mind - Billy Joel

I'd be tempted to include Dirty Boulevard also, by Lou Reed :)
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

The National - Anyone's Ghost

Say you stay at home alone with the flu
Find out from friends that wasn't true
Go out at night with your headphones on, again
And walk through the Manhattan valleys of, the dead

Well Manhattan's in New York innit?
