Your Interest in the GF this week.

Postby whufc » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:08 am

Was chatting to fellow work mates who are all members at various AFL clubs, so there pretty keen on the footy.

After having a chat to them we all had that same feeling that we couldnt really be bothered with the footy this weekend and that we were 'over it'.

We all had pre arranged plans for this Saturday and none of us can bothered changing them to fit arround the final.

Have you increased, decreased or have the same interest in the game this week.

Same.

However, I can't help but feel the entire day will be inevitably anti-climactic.

yeah we all said that, got a feeling one team will win real comfortable here.

Another question then

If one teams blows this game out will it detract from their premiership and will the drawn GF be looked apon in the same light.

It has increased because now i know St Kilda have a really good chance of beating the Pies and there can be nothing better than watching that.

A football tragedy looms this week. If the Saints win then the Pies have blown two Grand Final replays when they should have won the first one both times. If the Pies win then the Saints have three grand finals in two years with no flag to show for it.

Can't wait!

Nah, it will be just as sweet for players and supporters of the winning side.

The drawn GF will remain one of the greatest games in AFL history.

Who gets more hurt by a GF loss?

If Collingwood lose does the monkey on the back rise again?

If the Saints lose will it break some of their spirit as the close of the premiership window gets another year nearer?

The Saints. They have an older list and the window won't stay open as long for them as it will for Collingwood. In recent years the Saints haven't drafted a lot of young players and have opted for Gardiner, King, Ray, Lovett, Peake, Schnieder in a bid to add ruck strength and pace to the failed Thomas model. If they can't beat the Pies this year it will be even tougher for them next year and the year after that the lack of young draft picks will really begin to bite.

I bet a large majority of people who watched the game will tune to it once again in some shape or form, plus another portion will tune in to avoid FOMO. More coin, greater exposure, why would the league change it? As long as the venue is available the following week I can't see a legit reason to change it. Next year it could be an issue because of the GF getting pushed back a week.

Next year they'll bring in the Maxwell rule and introduce extra time. Now THAT'S a joke.
