How come lockleys are looking for a new coach after making the grandy? Or is it just policy to advertise?

Not sure who either of you are or where youre getting your info from as Mitchell Park have only just finalised our committee today and are weeks away from selecting anyone as coach! Colin Watkins has put in his application and is a good chance to get re-appointed.

We do however have a new fitness coach who will be kicking things off on October the 13th.

He has been actively trying to recruit players from Cove and other SFL clubs telling them he has the Mitchell Park job.

Poor form really on two counts then if he doesnt have the job. 1st poor form recruiting from his old club where he is a life member. and 2nd telling them he has a job he hasn't

Just asking the question is all

Fair enough, if he has put in an application then he is one of 3 or 4 with a chance. Whoever his contact is at the club might have gone off a bit soon is all I am saying. As was rightly pointed out, Colin is still actively involved in the club and deserves a bit more respect than that.

Agreed. Especially for people still recovering from knee reconstructions. ;)

I was surprised and a little critical as I think whatever fitness one gains befores the Xmas period one loses within the couple of weeks off. It was a tough season and few of the stalwarts deserved a solid break IMO. There are much smarter minds than mine working on it though, the fitness coach in question has worked with Sturt and Pembroke in Div 2 for a lot of money and has come back to the club for free to give us a hand.

Having done a couple pre-seasons with Sturts underage teams let me tell u its a massive help to start before xmas. those who are determine enough wont become slack during xmas and those who do woont lose much of they do start that early but will only have themslevs to blame.

not questioning coming back to training before christmas because i think it needs to happen to give you that base fitness before you start the harder stuff in january but october the 13th??? thats very very early considering the season may not end until midway through september its 11 months of training when you think about it like that.

An ex MPFC player who had long since moved on has decided to help us out. He has quite an array of qualifications in human movement and has been working at a much higher level. He offered his services, for free, to help the club get a head start in 2011. He is essentially our "pre season" or "fitness" coach.

We werent going to say no to this opportunity simply because the coaching process isnt finalised.

Accepting his services is one thing, starting in October is another. The AFL clubs don't even start that early and they are at the elite level. Maybe late Nov or early Dec if you're keen - but October? Really??????

I will be interested to hear what sort of numbers you get that early as well as how many injuries you get late in season 2011. That's a looooooooooooooooooooooong season, especially if you go deep into the finals
