At last, I was wondering when the moderators were going to sort some of you blokes out. Let's leave at general footy talk with some healthy banter.
Now have most clubs got their head around this points system? With some only having 10 points to play with and probably carrying some existing points recruiting will become a challenge.

How will the Magpies fit in all the blokes they are offering the world to?

I believe this issue has been dealt with by the Junior delegates - the age structure has been put in place and was to run for a period (4 or 5 yrs I think) before the discussion was opened up to any possible changes.

Part of the problem with moving to 18's is more to do with the bottom end of that comp ie those kids coming from 15's, the age difference when going to 18's would be 3 yrs instead of 2, as is the case with the rest of the junior age structure. Not to mention the kids filling in for their senior colts team each week, these kids are still U15 and some even U/14 in some cases. (This happens as a matter of routine in the Country div.) These guys would then be playing against some very big kids - you only need to look at Hahndorf and Blackwood in the G/F to see that these guys are big!!

Hahndorf have 12 points to play with, I'm not sure how many existing players are carrying points. I'd say at least a couple so they could probably pick up 3 (3 point) players. If they are looking at SANFL players (who carry 4 points) then maybe only two. Offering the world to half a dozen recruits doesn't work anymore unless they are happy to play B grade and rotate through the A's.

There are gonna be a small few on BIG coin because clubs will only be able to fit a few imports under the points threshold. You'd also wanna be rewarding 2-3 yr old imports to stay seeing as their points would have diminished somewhat. I actually reckon that TV might be the ones struggling. The incentives to get past players back up the hill eg Weathreald, Macca, Temme, Cooper etc will be greater too.
On that, from your teams, who would you be trying to get back to HFL, keeping the points in mind?
I think Lofty's getting Cutting back from O/S, they'd be looking at the Temme's, Broadbridge (although he was pretty patient), Waite, White (probably a few points though)...

Here's the club's points allocation as was passed onto me at a recent meeting.

Uraidla 10 pts
Mt Lofty 10 pts
Blackwood 10 pts
Mt Barker 12 pts
Onkas 12 pts
Hahndorf 12 pts
Ironbank 12 pts
Torrens Valley 12 pts
Bridgewater 15 pts
Lobethal 15 pts

I'm told Torrens Valley are arguing for 15 points, not sure how they've gone with that.

Will also be interesting to see how clubs go recruiting with the new points system in place. Gone are the days of picking up 6 or 7 quality players (this would amount to near 20+ points).

My mail is that Coleman is staying at Lofty and has started recruiting from the southern league - he has ties to Happy Valley so reckon he will go after some of their guns - hasnt been a happy side in the valley this year and some of these blokes may be ready to jump ship to a different league

WTF?! Mt Barker 12 pts? Grand finalists in A's, minor premier in B's...?

Mister Footy as Coleman only has 10 points to play with I'd imagine he could only pick up 2 three point players, maybe 3 maximum. Recruiting has now become more specific, ie. if you need a ruckman and a FF you are crazy chasing two midfielders for the sake of it. The points system prevents Coleman walking in and taking a dozen footballers away from Happy Valley. From what I hear he may need a dozen though as there are quite a few players who aren't happy with his re-appointment.

Just wondering if anyone on here knows Shane Collins? I know he was an assistant at North Adelaide last year. Anyone know what he is up to this year? What is he like as a coach?

I agree it is a big jump, but i think it would be better to change it to tie in with the sanfl comp, then maybe change 15's to 16's 13's to 14's etc.

Reffering to that also, there was previously at 3 year gap when the junior colts was 14.5

Wouldn't think they would go very well, everyone has been given the points as per their last 3 seasons finishing position. If they were stilll in country next year, they would only have 10 points.
So the HFL have given some leniency towards them and given them the middle bracket points. Fair call I say.

If they can't compete with their list on 12 points they shouldn't be coming to central div. Would you put them in the same category as Lobethal? I don't think so, so I think 12 points is very fair. Very debatable topic, I hope the league stands firm on their decision.
