Prelim Final Teams

Postby MagareyLegend » Thu Sep 23, 2010 6:41 pm

Eagles
IN - Daniel, Miles, Salter, Day, Rayner
OUT - Redden, Lewis, Treeby

Norwood
IN - Bown (rec) Hughes (rec) Grigg
OUT - Gorringe
So Hentschel not out but Broadbent not selected.

I think Eagles look a better balanced side on paper (but we all know that often means zilch).

Sounds like there is still a cloud on Henstchel, so reckon Day would be that covering emergency.
Not sure what the story with Miles is as thought he was still injured.
The named side has all Grocke, Welsh, Salter and Hentschel in the forward lines. We've had similar line-ups this year, and reckon it is going in too tall.

One for the Norwood fans,

If Rowe is having to spend more time in the ruck this week, how are Norwood going to kick a winning score.

Who will be ther tall forwards.

Shenton is ok but doesnt play tall, Bown can go forward but is only just resuming from injury.

Personally i DONT like the balance of that side.

Was Gorringe dropped? Little bit strange if they are going in with only one recognised ruckman.
Don't see too much reason to tinker with their side from last week other than Hughes being out was a huge loss, and perhaps this missing piece between last week and winning the next two.

Just thought it was strange to see the game thread split with a teams thread.

Do you not think it is a valid point, isn't that this site is for, to discuss football matters.

The Legs have been short up forward all year .. Whilst I don't think he would have provided a huge goal scoring target, losing Vlats on the eve of the season when we couldn't replace him was a massive blow .. We have done incredibly well to fill the void of tall forward marking targets and hopefully we can find a way to do so again on the weekend.

And maybe it could be a good idea if the Eagles don't underestimate Norwood either?

Not underestimating Norwood at all AH. I've said it's going to be a tough game and to pick a winner without at least seeing what sides have been named is oh so hard. I do believe out of the 3 teams left remaining the Eagles are the form side. However we will go in under-dogs again this week, how I do not know. But the Eagles are happy to wear the tag of under-dog.

Not impressed by the Dogs last two starts against Glenelg and Norwood.

I was talking in terms of finals form whufc. Yes you did have a good win buI wouldn't expect any less of your boys at this time of the year.

F -Polek, Welsh, Cheep
HF -Hentschel, Grocke, Salter
C -Allmond, rimmington, Jarrad
HB -McKenzie, Thompson, Giuffreda
B -Symmons, Grieger, Smith

1R -Parry, Cicolella, Powell
INT -Rowntree, Miles, Daniel, Day, Rayner

Ineresting non-selection of Matthew Broadbent :?

Also thought Goldsworthy might have been a chance to be included this week as well.

Perhaps a chance for a late change.

Eags too tall if line up as selected. Leg's pace will worry us. Believe Broadbent didn't pass the required training commitments at the Eags.

yeah you wouldnt think he would play would you,

If he doesnt play it then gives them the 3 key forwards of Welsh, Salter and Grocke which is a very nice balance i think.

One thing about this Eagles side is they do have a fair bit of flexibilty with Welsh and Salter who can multiple positions at either end of the ground.

Great to see Salter and Miles back and glad to see Hentschel named. I believe the scan on his hamstring was fine last Monday so would expect he will be fit.

I reckon McKenzie will step into Lewis' role in the middle and one of Hentschel or Salter will take McKenzie's role at half back, leaving the three talls of Welsh/Grocke and one of Hentschel or Salter, which is more balanced.

Daniel is a good replacement for Treeby. He has the body strength to do some of the bullocking work Treeby does.

Carn' the Eags! Can't wait!

Gorringe was hopeless last week. Norwood are better off getting someone who can contribute something.
