Quite simply the best club deserves to win flags
As some of the CD barrackers on SAFOOTY post, its up to the other clubs to raise the bar and bridge the gap

Eventually like the Roman Empire, Gheghis Khans army, Hitlers regime, all things come to an end
How did they all falter ?
predominately the other nations lifted thier game and beat them

Fair call, however be good if some of their fans turned up more than once a year.

Id Much prefer my clubs fans rock up on mass at the same time every year.

Than my club go missing at the same time every year. ;)

at least they are BOTH consistent!!

Seriously ffs there isnt one dogs supporter I know that is more than 50/50 confident of winning if we face the legs in 2 weeks.

Ok, maybe 60/40

I will be there on Sunday week feeling very nervous. The only GF where I could relax after half time was 2004 and I doubt that we can blow either Norwood or teh Eagles away like that in 2010. 8-[

I have ALWAYS stated that Centrals are THE team to beat... "The Maggies of this Decade"

IF this topic is not a troll, then;

1. I still HURT from our 125 pts FLOGGING in '04 - I want the chance to atone.
2. I still CLING to the '06 Flag - see avatar image, I want to see the Brewery again with our colours atop it.
3. I DO FOLLOW the EPL - it is the most predictable league BEHIND the SPL (imagine not being a Celtic or Rangers Fan FFS)

Bowes is still struggling to grasp the reality of defeat IMHO. I think he truely believed that his team would still be 'alive' in the race for the flag @ this point of the season. Sadly, due to being 'blown away' in the 1st Final, he now has to resort to a whinge & moan about the comp.

Question Bowes: "Would this be your topic if Sturt were still going?"

Errrm mate, who gets better crowds?

One game at Hindmarsh almost equals the entire SANFL round of attendees.

We have a party when 6,000 go to a game, whereas that crowd is rubbish at Hindmarsh.

Ask the SANFL whether they're on a winner with a one horse race.

No point in having a go at me, I've been following SANFL for 30 years, but just because I love my club, I'm not going to put my head in the sand and say the league is doing itself justice. The 8 crap clubs are letting the league down.

The SANFL is the second best comp in world in its sport..... the a-league wouldnt even come close to cracking the top 30

The A-League is a national comp, whereas the SANFL is a state based comp. Lets see how Adelaide Cobras v Cumberland Uniteds crowd stacks up against Port v Norwood.

the 2004 season was quite close up until the GF. Remember the 2nd semi was only decided by two points.... and some could argue that the umps missed an free to Stokes for being held.

It isnt predictable.....Central just win when it counts

How many Norwood supporters will be bored this week?
They certainly didn't show it today.
The passion ripping through the speakers on my radio tonight indicated why this competition is no longer boring.
It might be boring for the supporters of teams not there - that's their fault.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

I do find it amusing that a number of people have already said in the other threads they hope Norwood wins for the sake of the league. Gee where have we heard that?

How many people were hoping St Kilda would win? It wasn't for the sake of the league.

:-\ What's that got to do with anything? They were'nt playing a team that's been in the last 11 GF's. I fail to see the relevance.

Norwood win or lose will have no impact on the league.

People, (neutrals) will generally support the under dog or the team that has had the longest premiership drought. Generally. Having said that, I don't disagree that a Norwood v Centrals grand final will create greater interest than a Centrals v Eagles Grand final.

I agree with this. If Norwood win I dont think crowd figures will dramatically rise next year across the league.

This thread effectively discusses if the league has become boring (new flavour word of the month) yet there are people posting on this thread which is now 6 pages long on a forum dedicated to SANFL footy.

This aint boring and come Monday i'll be counting down the days til next season regardless of Sunday's result.

Excellent point, and the game preview thread itself is out to eight pages (and over 2500 views) now since Sunday night. That's just on this forum.

Norwood present as Central's fifth Grand Final opponent in as many years - unmatched in either of Port's runs of seven consecutive Grand Finals in the '50s (3 opponents) and '60s (4 opponents), nor Sturt's six consecutive Grand Finals (two opponents) to 1970.

After next week, there will be just two clubs that won't haven't tasted a Grand Final since Sturt's deserved 2002 triumph.

All well and good.

The reality is that regardless of what has gone before, there are always two clubs, having fought for their right to be there, starting from zero all come the opening bounce of a Grand Final. What happens from then on is in their hands - and their hearts.

Always has been. Always will be.

It has just struck me that there are six clubs contesting the three Grand Finals this weekend. Only North, South and the Eagles miss out. That is not boring.
