Cannot be enforced, clubs voted for a 3 year trial period to ascertain the merits of this system and it would need a miracle for it to get through before the end of that 3 years.
Season 2010 was only the first year of the 3 year trial and can't see clubs backing down on it beforehand.
Make no mistake Aceman, the points system will be in.

So you are saying Blacks that a large number of clubs are going to vote to have it enforced in 2011, I find that very hard to believe

The CFB are going to make it difficult to refuse. Any comp who does not take it up will have their players rated as 0 points if recruited to another comp thus making players pretty attractive to big spending clubs outside the SAAFL.

Correct. They will make it difficult BUT the big spending Clubs are already taking Players from the SAAFL and will not change a thing. Let the Clubs dictate to the CFB what Amateur Clubs want and tell them to mind their own business like last time. If the Clubs think it is best then great go for it, but not because they will make it difficult for the SAAFL Clubs. Do it for the right reasons or not at all. Remember the Clubs and Delegates of the SAAFL Clubs, are in control of their own Competition, not the CFB, even though they might think that. Clubs certainly will ensure they make the decision best for their Club and League and not because the CFB tells them to.

Fair point in the end this system appears to make it a good idea to spend time and money on juniors which can't be a bad thing. However I want to see a final draft before I start committing to anything especially being a club going up a grade. Not certain 15 points is going to make it easy to be competitive with the upper echelon and the last thing we want is to become a yoyo when it is out of our control.

i also think North Haven will go straight back to div 5 next year with rumours of some old players coming back to help the club out,

think PAOC will go very well in div 2, but think Iggies might struggle with the pace of it and maybe looking at going straight back to div 3.

i think Port Districts may struggle again in div 2, by the sounds of things lots of players are moving on again out there,
Were has Marbles gone and who is Satchel

so adelaide uni will go up to div 6 next year? is it true that they can chose to stay down a division, i think henley did this a couple of years back possibly?

ANY club can choose not to go up a grade (providing they did not do the same thing the previous season) & this will be allowed under the League's Rules & Regulations, IF there is a club in the higher division which wishes to stay up in that grade (providing they too did not do the same thing the previous season).

Rule 37 particularly 37.1 & 37.5 on page 83 of the 2010 SAAFL Handbook.

so you would say if uni wanted to stay down, i rekon ingle farm would be pretty happy to stay up? do they get first preference because they finished higher than mitchell park?

I think it then gets offered to the team that finishes third in the lower division. See when Kilburn got promoted from div 3 two years ago. Forgot who didn't want to go up, then Scotch said they would stay in div 2, but chose to be relegated last minute & forced an out of their depth Kilburn to come up.

This is based on the assumption they will go to Div 6, which was gonna happen next season (according to rumours of course)

If a side wants to come down, it comes down - simple as that. If it forces Uni up, stiff bickies. The clause reads grand finalists & bottom 2 - it is not an endless run up & down the lists.

Scotch was a slightly different situation in that they were desperate to be competitive, and knew they wouldn't be in Division 2. They pleaded with virtually everybody to help them & pretty well didn't care who they hung out to dry in the process. Funny how next year both Scotch & Kilburn will be in Division 4............sometimes the 'easy way' isn't the best way there.

they'd be silly not to seeing how competitive henley were at stages this year. depends on injuries in higher grades etc. but when they had close to their best side on the park they were very good. cant imagine uni would be to far behind

I would think if Salisbury West can keep the young group they had this year in Div 4 that they may go quite well in Div 5
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Yes, Henley were competitive at times (e.g. beat Houghton & CLG), but there were other times where they were very ordinary (thrashed by Ingle Farm). They were actually closer to being relegated than playing finals. Pretty hard for a C Grade side to remain competitive over the full season when you are constantly covering for injuries in A's and B's. I doubt that a C Grade side could ever win Div 6. I would expect them to be in the bottom half of the table. Will be interesting to see how Uni perform next year.
