Dear Mr Salter, Mr Broadbent & Mr Primus

Dear Mr Salter and Mr Broadbent,

I hope your soft tissue injuries are coming along well? No doubt you would have been watching the Eagles play today and would have been pumped to see your mates play with such determination and passion. That same determination and passion that both of you have displayed in Eagles colours which have seen you rise to the AFL. You would have also seen only seventeen players left on the field at the end of the game.

I hope you have a desire to contribute once again to the club that gave you a chance to reach the AFL. Your contributions through the first half of the season were important in putting us in a position where we can play off for a spot in the Grand Final. Under SANFL rules, you have qualified for the finals and I hope you see fit (and are fit) to step up to the plate and help the Eagles when it really counts.

I am sure Mr Treeby and Mr Lewis would be glad if you came back to them in two Sunday’s time and put a medal around their neck.

Regards,

Aerie

Dear Mr Primus,

Congratulations on getting the coaching job at Port. Whilst you are not exactly the image one conjures up when thinking of Port Adelaide, it is certainly an improvement on the past and this alone could see you as the greatest thing that has happened to Port Adelaide since the Port Natives started a football team back in the 19th Century.

Alas, on to more important matters. I hope you grant permission and, indeed, encourage Mr Salter and Mr Broadbent to put their names forward to play for the Eagles in the Preliminary final next Sunday. Finals football is what it is all about. You, and they, could learn a thing or two from being involved with a team that has a determination to succeed when the pressure is really on. You may find benefits in letting footballers play football and may even improve relations with SANFL clubs which will help your AFL club in the years to come.

Good luck working on the tan over summer and I look forward to you improving your AFL club to get back to what it was when you were captain.*

Regards,

Aerie

Brilliant!

Can't see him wanting to help the Eagles though mate, he's a Norwood man.

Couldn't have said it any better Aerie.

How quickly they forget about us - we are expected to let them play in the League team during the year when their Evil Overlords require it.

Now in a 'hour of need' - where are they?

True, but that's where his form led him. If he isn't happy (or Port), he can always go to another club.

That may or may not be true, but Im guessing Port may not go out of their way to help out as they would be looking at things from their own perspective and not the Eagles'. Having said that I think Broadbent would be more likely to be released than Salter.

No doubt Port only care about Port... so they should.
I too only care about the Eagles - hence my position on the matter.

But, I posted a few weeks ago about this very topic.

I believe that if this is going to be the stand taken by the AFL teams (i.e. 'inventing' soft tissue injuries & not releasing players for finals games), then I for one would like to see MY CLUB, play them in the 2nds throughout the year when 'dropped' to the SANFL.

Reasons;

1. Less disruption to the League side & those players in the side that get forced out
2. Send a message to the 2 AFL teams that we 'are not happy Jan'

Aerie, totally out of line if you call yourself a true Eagles supporter. You clearly are not and don't know the sensitive work going on behind the scenes that you may well have sabotaged with your vindictive remarks about Salter and Broadbent.
Real poor form about two blokes who have given their heart and soul for the Eagles.
Big mistake!

Well speaking to Brogsy at the Henley game and seeing him in his state, the chances of him playing for the eagles would be 0.0000001% i would think!
