the budget cutting services, raising taxes, and cutting entitlements for public service service staff, while simultaneously voting in a 6% increase to polititions super. funnily enough the last item hasnt been reported cos all the media were at the budget announcement! and also funnily enough it got bi lateral support so sailed straight through both houses of parliament! i wish i could vote for a pay rise for myself.....

As i once said to Alexander Downer - face to face - I think we made two mistakes in 1901:
1. Federating.
2. Agreeing to pay Politicians at all.
