181 a bit too much for us to get I'd think.

Be a good innings if we manage to win. Lol.

Let them off the hook. Pollard was always going to be a big danger, ditto Bravo. Tiwary scoring runs hurt.

Reckon the whole comp's a farce set up to make the Indian teams look good anyway. They have 4 internationals per team, other teams none. Should be limited to 2 IMHO and the players can pick the team they play for. Why the * Cameron White has to play for Bangalore (who don't always even pick him) when the team he's captained for almost a decade is in there as well is a joke.

All the comp really is to me is a chance to show we can compete with the top teams based on the depth of OUR players and a chance for some blokes to get a chance elsewhere.

The IPL teams certainly do have a massive advantage with the kinds of teams they can put together. We need to chase down 180 against the likes of Malinga, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan, Bravo & Pollard!

I'm not sure Cameron White had to play for Bangalore though. I think financially he's better off playing for Bangalore than Victoria and the Vics get paid $200K for "loaning" him to Bangalore for the tournament too.

Well what do you know. Very good win. Felt a bit peeved when Harsha said it was one of the greatest wins in the history of SA cricket, but I guess he's paid to make those over the top comments.

Love Chappell getting into the Indians' fielding.

As for Cameron White, I'm sure I heard that he asked Bangalore for permission to play for Victoria and they refused. And all the while Pollard was playing with us I'm sure I heard that if his IPL team made it then he was playing for them, regardless of whether SA or his West Indian team made it.

Fair enough I had assumed the IPL teams pulled rank too but read somewhere before the start of the tournament he had the choice to play for Victoria or Bangalore, must've been incorrect.

MEDIA ADVISORY
14 September 2010

Redbacks take down Mumbai in thrilling win

The South Australia Redbacks have pulled off a nail biting five wicket win against Mumbai Indians with three balls to spare in their second match in the Airtel Champions LeagueTwenty20 in South Africa.

After losing the toss and bowling first at Kingsmead, Mumbai amassed 7-180 before the Redbacks looked in trouble when they needed 48 from the last four overs and the match went right down to the wire.

Needing 25 off two and then 14 off the last, it took just three balls to get the job done, finishing with a flurry of a two, six and four to be 5-182 with Tom Cooper (19 off 5) and Cameron Borgas (14 from 5) closing out the match.

Although a dramatic finish, it was the solid start that set the Rebacks up with man of the match Dan Harris (56 from 37) and skipper Michael Klinger (50 from 48) putting on a partnership of 112 at the top that set the South Australians going.

After the match, Captain Michael Klinger said it was one of the best wins he had been involved in.

“That was a sensational win and one of the best games of cricket I have ever played with,” Klinger said.

“Of course it could quite easily have gone the other way as it always can in Twenty20 cricket but we’ll take the win and we’re two from two in this tournament and our confidence is high.

“We’ll reflect on the game in the change room but as good a win as it is we’ll quickly move on to thinking about playing Bangalore on Friday, here at Durban again.”

Klinger praised the work of his bowlers for sticking to the task when the powerful Mumbai middle order looked to get away.

“We got some early break wickets picking up Tendulkar and Duminy but Mumbai are a quality side and we knew they would come back at us, which they did,” Klinger said.

“Pollard and Bravo mounted a fight back and the game threatened to get away from us but we stuck to it and bowled some good overs towards the end.”

As good as the bowling was, the chase was better with Klinger and Harris setting the match up for the middle order to finish, leaving most spectators nail-less and with Klinger regaining the golden bat for leading run-scorer in the competition.

“It was nice to get a few runs again but most of the good work was done around me,” Klinger said.

“My heart was pumping in those last few overs and when Cam and Tom finished it for us it was just an unreal feeling and great to be part of.

“I know we’ve had some unreal support from back home from our family, friends and staff and members of the SACA and we’re very grateful for their well wishes,” he said.

The Redbacks are now two wins from two matches and play Bangalore on Friday at Durban before finishing the group stage against Guyana at Wanderers on Monday.
