Is that the one that formed the basis of the movie "Serenity"?

Yep C_P it is. I bought the boxed set after being blown away by Serenity.

Sorry zippy but have to disagree...I thought Firefly was great...such a shame the US networks screwed them over big time...after the success he had with Buffy this could easily have gone on to rival Star Trek imho.

I loved Serenity and had always intended to get my hands on a copy of Firefly, so Im glad you rate it as I was starting to think it probably wasn't worth it.

Obviously not everyone's going to like it...just happens that I do.

It's the same characters (mmmmm Adam Baldwin), the same style of humour (which I love) and it's like a prequel but it's a tv series so not as fast paced as the film.

Might be an idea to see if you can rent it to sample a couple of episodes and see if you like it before splashing the cash. Or there's bound to be some clips from it on YouTube to use as a taster.

Given the positives I've heard about it I'll stick with it a while longer JAS but man, it's a struggle...
casting (the leads don't gel at all and the captain has the charm of a block of wood),
dialogue (so much mumbling, we were discussing whether or not to switch on captions),
pacing (one minute they're flying around, next they're riding over the countryside, next frame back in the ship?),
plot (just watched the one about the train robbery...I know it's supposed to be a space western but WTF?),
sets (looks like it was filmed in the carpark at Warner Bros Movie World. In 1987)...

Arrrgh! And I bought Serenity too!!

We just finished watching Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Pretty average slapstick but the main character was quite endearing so that saved the movie, whereas if it had been Martin Lawrence or similar in the title role I'd have taken the DVD outside and jumped on it.

That's one of my favourite movies. Gordon Gecko would be in my top 10 movie bad guys. Very interested to see what the new one is like.

Apparently there is a photo of me that makes me look like a dead ringer for the lead actor... Googling it today, I'm offended!

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Watched 3 over the weekend

first one was she is out of your league, was alright, had a few good chuckles through it

second one was the shooter, seen this one before I rate it alot.

last was clash of the titans, from what i remember it did well in the cinemas?
I really enjoyed it, story was good with plenty of action, some of the special effects a little over the top though.
