Why barrack for anyone? The football season is over :)
It's all the SANFL's fault.

And what a difference a leading forward line makes .
Eagles players etc had a point to prove today. No idea if they read the comments on here about them .Or the comments that sturt were going to play the dogs in the GF .Or Scotty Lewis saw those pictures you guys put up. ;) But something got into the boys today perhaps it was pride.
Perhaps Treeby got spurred on by that wonderful Treeby chant that the Sturt cheer squad were chanting .It worked boys best game Treeby has played in weeks!!!
And CSBOWES mate enjoy the off season !!! What a stupid thing to post going to come back and bite you in the butt Oh wait Sturt lost  .
Loved seeing Sturt supporting families leaving before 3/4 time !!Losers
sturt peeked to EARLY nothing unusual in that

So if Eagles don't do anything else they stopped the unstoppable Blues .
Thats 3 wins out of 4 games this year .But this was the best win all the others meant nothing !!!!
Go you Eagles !!!

Congratulations.

There is dignity in being a gracious winner

Why your foul mouthed fans were verbally attacking aussie while he was selling Budgets.Something about shoving it up somewhere.Gracious winner or gracious in defeat ?

Perhaps I would be gracious if certain fans didn't write on this forum that you were going to play Centrals in the GF.
Believe me if your mob hadn't peeked prematurely last week I would be coping heaps tonight!!!

I didn't say we'd play in the GF against Central... I'm not arrogant... I just said we'd sweep the Eagles and Legs aside and make the prelim... I was only partly arrogant! :-)

Well I knew you'd enjoy it... in the end, I don't regret one bit what I wrote in the forums, why would I? Geez if you can't be confident your own team will win then what can you be? I also said Glenelg would win by 10 goals, all this proves is that I completely underestimated two sides and overestimated two others.

As I said in the second post in this thread, happy to take the barbs, I purposely put my chin out and expressed my confidence, hoping the team could back it up, they didn't, so I wear it, not too proud to take the jibes from opposition fans. God knows if we won, I would have come on here and said "I told you so" or words to that effect.

But have to say one thing, peaked too early? Geez mate, we've won as many GF's as you this century!

Yep true about GF wins ;)
But you showed the Eagles all your tricks my friend .While it could be said the Eagles didn't show their hand.
So off on holidays now mate ?

Funny that he seemed like the only Sturt player out there who seem satisfied after the final siren in the first game today - while all others had hands on faces or knees. This bloke seems to just wander around the ground wherever he likes, hardly ever picks up an opponent....grrrrrr. Very disappointed with his first season at the Blues...

Actually, I'm a little bit excited about the Eagles v Glenelg game... one pumped up side against another which desperately needs to redeem itself and avoid going out as a straight sets loser... AND... I'm equally interested in seeing whether Norwood can come up with the same fast, attacking football against the Dogs and beat them, would love to see Centrals get beat and have to face someone in a knock out final... so not holidays yet, but don't get me wrong, I'm gutted, so enjoy my pain! :-)

Today's game was a snapshot of the 2010 Sturt Team.
A team that caused 3 of Central's 5 losses for the minor round.
Also a team that gave Port 2 of their 4 wins for the minor round.
A team that was so mentally fragile in 2010 that all it took in today's game was for the Eagles to score a goal with a big turning bouncing off-spinner - follow it up with an injury to Giles a few minutes later and the white surrender flag was hoisted up by Sturt within thirty minutes as everything had got too hard.
Over-achieved in 2009.
Under-achieved in 2010.

i still want to know exactly why the sturt dancing girls were abusing the girl filming the wwt's girls dancing at 1/4 time of this match...i'm not sure who started it but for such petite girls some of the language was very colorful indeed......what i do know is before the match started both sets of girls were going through their dance routines when the music ceased playing over the public address system & the sturt girls valiantly continued & the wwt's girls stopped their routine, for my mate leno his daughter alissa wasn't one of the girls in the 'tyraid'  it ended up the highlight of the day for me
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

It was tough sitting there with you today Rob...

I think the biggest disappointment was that it was over within 35 minutes of starting, so we didn't get to enjoy the day at all...

I'm just disappointed that my prediction made as we drowned at Wdv Oval a week ago - that Sturt have the mental ability to lose to a side a week after thrashing them - came so horribly true so early in the game. And now we have to barrack for Nwd or Glg or Eagles and I can't see any of them preventing yet another CD flag.

Thought we were very good, but not really outstanding. A pretty good team effort, with Parry, Greiger, Powell and Grocke being the better ones. Henstchel will be better for the run.
The loss of Giles was really a big turning point. However, overall I reckon there are a few prima donnas in the Sturt side, prepared to take the spoils of victory on the efforts of others. Normally I don't like to bag other clubs and would rather worry about my own, but there were a few Sturt players today whose effort and willingness to fight in a final was abysmal.
As some above said, the 25mts were a bit of a joke. The Eagles certainly got the run with the frees but we were the ones who were consistently fair-dinkum for the ball, not make-believing.
Was mentioned on ABC radio tonight that both Broadbent and Salter may be available. Know there have been conflicting reports on this site. As good as Salter is, Broadbent is the one I think we really need as we will need more mid-field depth against the top sides.

~ 20 goal turnaround in one week is unheard of.

Massive inclusion is Grocke. The Premiership CHF straightens us up and is fantastic at making a contest and as a lead up forward. Think he has only played once against glenelg this year.

Godden did well in his first final.

Powell, Jarrad & Treeby great games. Mckenzie statistically quiet. Polec evasive and exceptional pressure with many tackles.

Congrats to sturt on their win in the minor round last week.

We live to fight another day. Should be a cracker this week.

Anyone know what was wrong with Miles? Despite being unfashionable, he has been an important player for us this year.
