If you're going to go 1-3 against a side for the year, always good to claim the single victory in the GF. Great job Wolves to win a first A grade premiership since '81 and back into A2 for the first time since the late 70s.

Super effort and just so unfortunate couldn't get back into the state, but hope the guys go right off tonight. :drinkers: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

They had a good side Rog. Almost perfect blend of experience and youth, and a large chunk of blokes in their mid-late 20s - right at their peak. Their recruiting was spot on - got the job done !

BTW, didnt know they were called the Wolves !

for old-timers (like me), they are the wolves or the jellybean jumpers. I doubt any of the young boys in the last 20 years would ever have called them that and they are just Iggies these days.

I hope someone taped the rendition of 'when Johnny comes marching home'. Really want to hear that played down the phone at some stage tonight.

I havent picked or tipped anyone for many weeks.

Not sure how that comment is relevant, other than to highlight the fact you did pick them NM. Well done.

Still think PAOC are well positioned for D2 next year, more so than Igs. But time will tell, and shouldn't take the gloss off of Iggies win.

Backed them on the poll here in March. I only got one vote, but me and 15 others got proved right.

Well Done to Old Iggies, a very good win against the odds. Romeo, Connelly and Frinsdorf were fantastic. Dave LeMire has stepped down as coach with Joe Pedler to coach OIFC into Div 2 next year. Also furthermore well done to President Zollo and his committee for their recruitment and management.

Not only did Whiteman play, he was more than useful yesterday. Played the sweeping role off half back to perfection. Fabulous way to finish his career if Saturday turns out to be his last game.

Terrific effort by Iggies yesterday - PAOC had 3 goals on the board within 10 minutes, and were looking very threatening. Iggies absorbed the early heat, got it back on even terms by half time and then blew the game open with 5 goals to 1 in the 3rd quarter. The tackling and smothering by Iggies was 1st class, and PAOC never really looked likely to make a run in the last term. Great team effort, but I thought Romeo, Connelly, Zillante, S White, Whiteman and Frinsdorf really stood out. Special mention to the tagging jobs done by Nick O'Loughlin and Jimmy Connell on 2 PAC guns - Kelly and number 22 (Payne?), which negated 2 guys that had cut up Iggies in previous matches.

Big night last night for the boys, and good to see them all backing up at The Bath again today for the B&F count. Congratulations to Joe Pedler on his win in the B&F, and also to Tomich and Whiteman who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Excellent game on saturday at Alberton with the best 2 sides for the whole year going at it!

Like Zulu said, PAOC kicked the first 3 and it looked like it could have been a blow out, but iggies just settled themself and back themselves. Not saying PAOC didnt want it but old Iggies seemed to want it a bit more.
Best for Iggies I thought were Connelly, White, Tomich, Frinsdorf and Whitemann in that order.
Romeo turned it on in the 3rd quarter to help them get the lead but thought he sort of dropped in and out of the game!
Thought peddler was very quiet on the weekend, compared to the amount of kicks he gets against us.
Tommich usually cops a bit of flack from the Portland supporters but we couldnt give him a thing, he would put himself in positions that no one else on the field would want to be and still came away with the footy

In the end Iggies played better, but both sides made for a great game to watch!

Congratulations to Iggies and good luck to both sides in 2011 in Div 2.

Good sum up of a great game Fisty. I too thought Connelly was best but Iggies as a whole seemed to be the hungrier team and were willing to take risks to win the game. Has been a great season for Div 3 footy and was a fitting finale.

i have to agree, great game played by the best 2 sides in Div 3.
IMO Whitemann, Frinsdorf, Connelly and Tomich best players.
All played pivital roles in the victory.
The depth of PAOC was tested on the weekend and they failed to respond for the first time this season.
Old Iggies probably werent the best performed side over the entire season but were clearly the only team that could threaten PAOC when in full flight.

I think that we could have challenged PAOC, as do alot of PAOC people
As do I think Seaton and Para Hills would aswell.
the ladder might not represent that but I think the style of game that PH and Seaton play could definately have tested PAOC!

Backed them as well. Great win by Iggies - as an Iggies man in absentee, it's great to hear that the boys put up such a great performance on the weekend. My old man went to the game and said that two weeks previously, PAOC had a bigger and more vocal crowd but for the GF Iggies supporters easily outnumbered Princes, and were as loud as he had ever heard them. Rog, I'm sure the boys going across to Melbourne for Grand Final day will be only too happy to share the experiences with you! Prez Zollo especially!

On another note, he was also chatting with Kev Whitford (Old Iggie & Crows physio) - Kev went to Roo after the game and gave his commiserations. Roo replied "Doesn't mean anything to me mate". Apparently he got $4k for playing just that game too - dunno about that one though, much like Chinese whispers I'm sure that story has been magnified through every pair of ears it passes.

Congrats to the boys, and hopefully they put up a good account of themselves in Div 2 next year.

Prolly due to the splitting of the PAOC crowd in half given they had the C's and D's down at St Marys.
