Pretty poor form by the assoc hey. should be like football cups in england, lower sides have to play through a series of games just to play the better sides.

Long weekend is a "culture weekend" for the Internationals and cant play and day light savings hasnt started we made a semi last year looks like we may go out to a coin toss shocking fixturing.

Agreed TL. In addition (as will be mentioned at training Sunday) we have a trial game against WYC on the Monday of the long weekend. Many football leagues are still going through finals, and with cricket clubs only just starting training it is a big ask to get them played before the season even starts.

If you put an entry fee on it, then it might weed out some of the sides that are just in it for a laugh and a hit, and then we might see it turn into a strong serious competition.

If clubs want a hit-and-giggle match, then set them up internally or speak with clubs directly outside of this competition.

we found it to be a success for us last year we played a majourity of A grade with several B C and D grade players as well we had great support from our entire club and famillies plus allot of juniors come out and where able to watch us play for the first time.

I dont have a problem playing first up but playing before the season starts whilst other codes are still going is a joke i worded it wrong the date is bullshit not the teams fault its the associations

Understood but doesnt it have a bit to do with more teams entering as being the reason that it has to start earlier?

I have said it before, until the Association puts a little more thought into the T20 format, it will be a Mickey Mouse competition. No incentives for the clubs , but the clubs are expected to jump when the Association tells them too.

In fairness to the asca, the clubs arent expected to do anything, they have the right to not even field a side!

What needs to happen i think, is a sub comittee formed, which does not include most of the old stuffed shirted fuddy-duddy asca committee, which includes input from the clubs, to create the best t20 comp that they can.

At the moment i believe its pretty much left to john voysey i believe (correct me if im wrong), nice boke, got the best intentions, but i don't think innovations in cricket is his strong point.

Our t20 comp isn't a digrace of a comp, but it could very very easily be made better.

Jabber, John Voyzey made the rules for the T20 he hasn't done the draw that is Phils doing, in the main.

With the amount of teams nominated there were 3 choices. Only allow 16 to participate, not a great idea in my mind, provide for all to play which meant the games either started before the season starts or finish after the season ends. Neither of these are ideal but there wasn't much choice to the matter.

The way around this that I see is for the association to program T20 days either friday nights or sundays and it must be played then or you are knocked out. This would allow the games to occur every 3 weeks for instance and be done within the confines of the season.

Is having to play a game before round 1 ideal? No, far from it, but it was the view of the majority of the executive that it was what would work the best.

However, it is very easy for people to sit back and criticise the decisions the association makes but it is a different thing to get off your ass and make a contribution to the running of the comp because if you all did I am sure everything would be perfect.

Not all of us have the spare time to do it, however many of us do have ideas.

It is my opinion that the asca should take full control of the comp and take the scheduling out of the clubs control. set the dates at the start of the season, and then enter the club's names in as you go. the clubs that enter need to be aware that if they enter they must avail themselves for the set dates otherwise bad luck.

As i think i stated, although your rant missed picking it up, the T20 comp is by no means bad, but can be made better.

Nightmare draw for WYC.

5 home games and 6 away with one home game being the one dayer.

Play Ramblers, Coro and ICC all away. We are looking at some long trips in the car this year.

I think Bloods may have fixed the draw so he had more games down south, closer to his home!

Firstly Jabber my rant wasn't directed at you it was to everyone. I was specifically talking to you in regards to the draw and your thought that it was John voyzey.
It is all good having ideas but they need to be directed through the correct channels. Don't think that everyone on the executive has spare time, far from it, but we put the effort in because we want to see the comp be as good as it can be.
