Great environment in the Barossa League and especially the Grand Final day. Sensational day at the Football BUT lets be serious it is about Division 3 standard, with the lower teams in the normal home and away games being about Division 4 or 5. Awesome day at the Grand Final though and not bagging the competition, just a reality check mate

Tough call on Scott there fella, he was one of our best players this year. Maybe he gets a couple extra votes cos he's a playing coach i dunno, but to say that winning the Div 1 Medal is a joke is pretty stupid. I can say that other teams this year were tagging him, so he must have been doing something right.

Absolute peanut!

Go watch the henley GF and i will put my money on it Seamus will be one of the best on the day!

He deserves the team of the year accolade, and should have been in it last year!

Bagging Seamus, maybe 10 years ago for being soft and outside is probably fair enough (because of his lack of size as a junior), but now he is one of the guns of the competitions.

I know that there are a couple SANFL clubs after his services for next year already.

hahahaha ANd there he is!

Im not going to get into an argument about comparing the two comps, thats not what i said. Maybe he didnt get tagged enough then because he is one of the easiest blokes to tag, will hurt you if given a free run and plenty of time, but really, surely there was many better performers than him, i see he is on the bench in the team of the year, obviously a late call up to save the umpires some embarrassment or the selectors depending which way you look at it.

Is Turner still one of the most annoying/hated players going around by opposition teams?

Jason Turner a very worthy winner. Probly had a better year last yr and the yr before but just fell short. That's the way it goes though. Leal and Hay both had good years. Definately helps that they're bald haha! A lot of blokes don't get votes that they should but there's nothing you can do. You need a lot of luck to win a Div 1 medal and you have to put your best foot forward by having a gun year. Comparing comps is too hard. All I know is that Div 1 is one of the toughest comps going around. If you're 5% off no matter what team you are you WILL lose. Last yr henley lost to the 2 teams that were relegated. This yr they barely beat paynhem twice.

Turns talks a fair bit on the ground to umps and other players so wouldn't be surprised if opposition clubs were irritated by him. Great bloke though off the field

I dont know Turns but have had a bit to do with Joey and Scott. Both great footballers and humble guys. Yes i was shocked that Lealy was one of the winners but speaking to a couple of the Broadview guys they believed he was a real chance and lets face it they would see him play from a fairly similar perspective to that of the umps. Be it up close and on a weekly basis. Perhaps he was not Broadies best player this year and may finish behind Horny, Newbs and even Stevo in their clubs B+F. But if we look quickly at the Brownlow since 2000. When Voss was the Lions standout Aka and Black won. Ablett was clearly Geelongs best when Bartel got the medal and would we be too suprised if Swan doesnt get his just deserts this year.
I reckon all 3 winners should be applauded for their efforts as they have something most of us would never dream of having and i have no doubt that the Umpire votes in Div 1 are fair. It is well and truly established that on ballers will almost always win these awards.
If you want to complain about umpire votes id suggest the div 7 res thread should be your next stop.

To early to tell. Id like to think so as we were so competitive in the 2nd half of the year when we got our full team on the paddock. But i think Modbury are the best example...Smashed Div 2 in 2008. Looked finals bound at the half way mark of 2009 only to get relegated by a bees stiffy. Missed finals in Div 2 in 2010.
A weeks a long time in football. Well the 6 months break that includes pre season is even longer. There is no way of knowing for sure at this stage

Heard today that Hudson from Gepps only got 2 single votes on Wed night. Looking at the SAAFL Photo winner thing which he won, ruckman in the T.O.Y. and some had him right up there, how can the umps only give him 2 votes. Something not right there.
