Gaelic Football in South Australia

I think any host state requires a facility with enough space for 2 pitches. Sounds like they cant quite fit both them on the same site so have shortened one..??

I must say I will be a little nervous on the Tuesday we play "Orkland".

The Aukland boys have always been superb at embracing the social side of the Australasian Championships. After belting the living suitcase out of you on the field on tuesday many of them will no doubt invite you out for a few quiet frothies or loud guinesses as the case may be. Over my 20 year span of being involved with Aukland Seniors and Minors i have developed a crucial set of rules that you may find effective to use when in Wellington
- Do not get involved in drinking competitions with them
- If one of them says "ey bro, try this bro"...Dont try it!!!!
- When they say "dont worry about your curfew bro"..worry indeed
- If they say to you "your girlfriends got all the moves on the dancefloor, but bro shes got size 11 feet and an adams apple the size of the South island ey bro"...Dont ignore them
- Train yourself not to make sheep noises in their company. It has been established that they dont find it humorous.
I hope this helps. Aukland are a unique bunch and they are one of the many things that make the Nationals so special.

My connections within the committee have told me that there could be up too two extra sides joining the state league. Namely Port Districts & Rosewater, who are in the process of applying for sides.
It's good to see more jumping on the gaelic football bandwagon & more teams can only be better for the game in SA!

Excuse my ignorance of the SAAFL, but Port Districts are A1s IIRC? Are they aligned with the Port Maggies in anyway? And could we see the first "lace up" Gaelic jersey in the comp?! I'm a chance to defect if so!

So they been relegated from SAAFL A1s straight into the Gaelic Football State League?! Thats rough!

Although the Port Districs Team may be part of the Football Club the Rosewater team are not but use the oval for training after we came to an agreement with the football club. We have been very welcome there though and will oftern stick around after training for drinks and theri friday night meat raffles. The club was set up before we got in contact with rosewater fc but we always ment to take on the name of the suburb we train in. Nickname is the dingoes with the colours of orange, black and white.

I believe under the rules of gaelic football in SA, a new club does not need to provide a ref for the first (one or two or three???) seasons.

2 and a bit weeks before SA's first game in the Australasian Championships in Auckland, and the boys are pumped! On Monday night we worked on some attacking strategies, some defensive tactics, and most importantly brushed up on our earthquake survival techniques...
