Migraines again. I was completely tired this morning and I couldn't work out why, then had this weird spaz moment where my vision blurred and my walking went all wobbly. By the time I figured out what was going on it was too late and now my head feels like it's been attacked by a triceratops. :?

But fisho, the triceratops was a herbivore. Or are you saying that your head is akin to an oversized radish?

Ahh if only that was always the case FC, in a totally non-random analysis of a double blind collation of the times that I am tail-gated I would say well over half the time I am doing the speed limit + or - 2 km/h

In those cases you are more than entitled to touch the brakes then ;)

If more then a one laned road then it is so frustrating having people block the whole road up!
Move to the left unless overtaking, wish this rule was enforced on all multi laned roads, not just roads that you travel more then 80kmh on

In the UK ( JAS ? ) this rule is enforced regularly. Here, it appears to be little more than a friendly suggestion.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

OK I took my driving test (compulsory for work) in the mid '80s and but I've never owned a car and haven't driven since the mid '90s so I'm not well versed in current road law.

BUT I think what you're refering to Boonster is when you get stuck behind something a slow moving vehicle like a tractor and trailor or a lorry and can't overtake...I do believe they're obliged to pull over when safe to do so, regardless of the number of lanes and allow the following traffic to pass but I don't know what the conditions of that rule are...ie if they have to do it after a certain distance or if they can see more than xxx vehicles behind them etc.

Unless you're talking about motorways where I think the lanes are still (from left to right) slow lane, overtaking lane and fast lane...and I think there might be restrictions on what type of vehicles are allowed to use the fast lane.

I reckon JTC would know better than I as he's probably a driver or feel free to try and find it yourself Highway Code

1) My phone which is one week out of warranty just died!
It must have an internal shutdown timer.

2) The fact that it is cheaper to buy a new one than have it repaired.

Service Station attendants having to make coffee's, it turns a 1 minute journey to go pay for your petrol into a ten minute wait. I don't buy them on sheer principal as I don't want others to have to wait for me.

Also when you step up to the counter to pay for your petrol and are asked as a matter of course if you want to buy some confectionery.

Sam Newman's big mouth, quite costly.

AAP

7 September 2010

THE next time controversial football media personality Sam Newman goes too far it will cost Channel 9 $200,000.

The communications watchdog said today Nine's AFL Footy Show had breached the commercial television code 12 months ago when Newman labelled a Malaysian man a monkey.

Nine has agreed to pay $200,000 to charity if Newman breaches the code again.

Last September, Newman held up a photo of a 107-year-old Malaysian woman on the program and called her new husband a monkey.

Panellist Brendan Fevola said "You can't call him a monkey", before Newman replied, saying the man was "not long out of the forest" and appeared to also compare Serena Williams to the Malaysian man.

The following week ABC Media Watch host Jonathan Holmes called Newman a "drongo", and said that "in a week when another ugly attack on Indian students has again put the international spotlight on racism in Australia, surely we can do without garbage like that".

Today, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) said in a statement that the Malaysian man had been held up to ridicule "on the basis of colour and race".

"Nine's offer of an enforceable undertaking, whereby it would pay $200,000 to an agreed charity for any future breach by Mr Newman of the code provision, confirms both the seriousness of the breach and the seriousness with which Nine is approaching future compliance," said ACMA Chairman, Chris Chapman.

"Ridiculing or racially abusing dark-skinned people by comparing them to monkeys has recently received much media attention in Australia, particularly in and around the sporting arena.

"We believe a sporting commentator such as Mr Newman would have been aware of these incidents and should therefore have been aware that using the word monkey in this manner would be likely to provoke severe ridicule."

Nine had also agreed to other action, he said, including "significant senior management overview of the materials to be used by Mr Newman and a broad-ranging reporting regime and training obligation".

In March, last year, ACMA found Nine had breached the same code provision on the grounds of gender, when he manhandled a lingerie-clad mannequin
