Well played today Elizabeth

BH had a few physical tussles all day, u get that when ur targeted in the field!!
But any decent footballer knows that soon as that siren goes that's the end of it, not according to a certain player. And to the guy who I believe played all year, running on the field to throw a huge sucker punch. I hope he feels like a big man?
Disgraced himself and his club!

Good size ground & with the weather we've had i'd say very muddy especially inside the centre square.

Definitely bad luck to Brahma Lodge on Saturday, you just can't practice to them conditions, it comes down to grit, determination and guts. I know Elizabeth had been hit by the flu amongst their playing group and it must rate as one of the best wins as a club since joining the SAAFL.
It just opens up a world of "what if's", in such an even competition this season the window of opportunity opened and closed for many teams throughout the season.
From our point of view there were many times that we could've taken a stranglehold on certain games which would've given us enough wins to make the finals or even gain that vital second chance.
Round 1 against Hope Valley, we wasted too many opportunities in front of goal early which cost us over the journey.
We were flying against Elizabeth when we played them at home and then hit the brakes and allowed them to run over us, much the same as the Lodge game away and Heccies at home.
Congratulations to Hectorville and Elizabeth for rising to the occasion, it is a marathon, not a sprint.
HOGG SHIELD DIVISION V WINNER 2018.

conditions not to improve significantly this week by the looks of it and with a triple header planned the ground will again by heavy so i think Elizabeth can back up in a close low scoring game in both grades.

wonder if Heccies took the opportunity to train on saturday just to familiarise themselves with the possible conditions.

went to the div 2 prelim of eastern park v uni. the most remarkable conditions i've seen footy played in so i was contemplating what might have been going on at the lodge.

one week to go and it's all over for yet another year.

Well done Eags! Nice to see you boys get promoted.
I'm very envious - there is no club I'd rather play for in a GF!
No club I'd rather see win a GF.

Hope Switter is okay.

Should be an interesting game this week. Elizabeth have done well against Heccies this year. Key match ups will be Junior on Greenshields - these two will smash into each other all day. I think Eliz would tag wooten with the same guy who tagged hick's early. I think woots would handle this better as probably use to it. Halladay needs to have a big one. He was dominant I thought on Sat and needs to be again. Heccies have 2 quality wingman, Eliz have 1 - sorry dont know his name but No7. I can see he and papa standing each other but not sure if they have anyone to go with Howe. Heccies have a great defence and run off their opponents really well. We certainly were going to set up different if we had played them again. Eliz's forward will have to work their butts off and almost flood to stop their switch. I thought Eliz were great in back half on Sat and if they can do a similar job will make the scores very low. I think Heccies just due to their all round quality but should be a real good contest. Look forward to hearing custard arms summary next week.

Masha wrote:Well done to Eliz B grade today, adapted quicker to the conditions and wanted it more. Quality side who should get what they deserve next week after been the best team all year. Our chances werent helped with a player been red carded, but we had to deal with it and were far from disgraced. We fought it out well and at times could have got back in the game but Eliz got some timely goals. Good year by our lads, disappointed we didnt get to the big one but an improvement again after making the semi's last year.

Would like to know what was said during your qtr time chat. I thought we had the better of the 1st qtr, down by a couple points and after qtr time Eliz came out and were pretty physical. Was that the plan? Not saying it was bad or anything, just interested if that was the tactic because it worked pretty well in the 2nd.

Good luck to Heccies and Eliz next week in the A's, enjoy your success and promotion to Div 4. As for the after game incident, I didnt see it but heard it wasnt that flash. Probably the less said the better.

Think anyone would have been red carded if they to were spat in the face by an opposition player, worst act on a footy ground, even his Elizabeth team mates said he deserved a punch in the mouth,as usual the umpire only saw the retaliation but good to see the striking charge has been dropped by the umpires.
