I'm not saying it's right or we should feel sorry for Amir but perhaps to think about the situation they're in. It's easy for dropkicks like Matty Hayden to come out and sink the boot into them when he's probably made more than $1m a year for the last decade. You're right $50K would go a lot further over there than here but what if he wants to leave that hell hole and live in England? What if he has a g/f and they want to start a family and he wants to give them a better start? I'm just saying not everything is black or white but I must admit I have lost a bit of love for the sport after this, I think the whole thing is very sad. And of course I too have far more sympathy for all the poor people whos lives have been destroyed by those floods than for any professional cricketer.

Fair enough but Matty Hayden a 'dropkick' just because he got paid more and played a straight bat? Maybe he has lost a little love for the game as well. For a guy who have played over a hundred more tests than you and me he might feel that lost love a little more.

Interesting to read Geoff Lawson's take (no pun intended) on the whole situation...

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,27641435-23212,00.html

Basically saying that they may not have had a choice if they wanted to have a cricket career to begin with.

Simple conclusion
Ban the perpetrators
But dont ban the team

By banning PA you decimate the dreams of millons of young kids who want to play International cricket
You also close the door on Hanif , Intikab, Majid, Sarfraz, Javed, Imran and Wasim

You're not closing the door on the past, you're closing it on the future. Fair difference there mal...

Breaking news from a UK Tabloid

MORE MATCH FIXING ALLEGATIONS
Pakastani fast bowlers Aamir and Asif have been questioned over more alledged match fixing in the last Australian tour 2010
It is alledged that both Aamir and Asif both blew kisses at Australian batsman Shane Watson in one or more Test Matches
The kisses were a signal for betting perpretators to then back Shane Watson to make 50 + runs

Why do you think they tried soooo hard to get him that ton! Even had to grass simple catches on 99!

That's what I wonder too. And Cronje. I think there is a lot more to this whole situation than just money to be made (as Lawson has pointed out).

Cricket needs to sort it self out. It can start by temporarily getting rid of Pakistan and banning for life those that have been found to be match fixing/spot fixing.

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/woolmers-widow-insists-his-death-unrelated-to-fixing-scandal-20100903-14ugn.html

Gill Woolmer has moved to dispel the rumour and innuendo that her husband was killed after Pakistan's shock loss to Ireland in the Caribbean, a theory that spread when Jamaican pathologist Ere Seshaiah deemed Woolmer's death a murder, and an ensuing inquiry found that the cause of his death was inconclusive.

Two Pakistan cricketers were issued notices by the ICC seeking information nearly a month before the spot-fixing scandal broke during the Lord's Test last month, ESPNcricinfo has learned. The players are part of the squad in England and were sent notices because they were already under the scanner of the ICC's Anti Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU). One of them was provisionally suspended by the ICC after being named by News of the World's sting operation.

Just watching the 1 dayer now between World Xl and pakistan.
bit of a worry that Akmal is still 'keeping.

I know he hasn't been found guilty of anything but his performance in the Sydney test is a worry.

Surely if a bookmaker admitted that the match was rigged Akmal should be suspended until investigations are finished.
Doesn't mean he is guilty, but the reports suggest he was involved.
do they really want to get rid of this problem?

Simple with Akmal really...

If he was involved, give him a life ban.

If he wasn't, drop him anyway, because he sucks.

Salman Butt, one of the three Pakistan players suspended by the ICC following the News of the World spot-fixing expose, has appealed against the provisional decision.
