But then again maybe not.

Yeah, probably fair enough. I might be bias, but Marshy is more than capable. Portland advertised also in today's paper. Not sure what Andy Lipson is doing at this stage, but would think the job is his if he wants it. I personally hope he does. Smart move by the club to advertise anyway IMO, need to cover all bases.

If Lippo goes to Port 18s it will be a direct swap in return wouldn't it?
He's definately got the respect from the players, you can see the way you blokes listen & play for him.

Im not sure where that story about Lippo and Port U18s has come from, but i would think the current coach at the Magpies has done a pretty good job and would be going around again if he wants to.

Andy isnt sure what he is doing at the moment. He said he will think about it once the finals are finished.
Said to the club to go ahead and advertise so we dont miss out on the best candidates.
Id love to see him go on again but at the moment he has more pressing matters, like doing all he can to get us into the GF.

I've held off on this as we were waiting till the right time to announce it at the club but Wayne is going on with the Phantoms for another year. I'm sure it won't interfere with his Woody South Under 12 commitments if he chooses to continue.

whoops knew i forgot something Daryl Wintle is now at the helm, Scotty did a great job with the group but is unfortunately moving overseas I believe with his employment[/quote]

Thought he would've been the man to take over. Leal would be a huge loss for you boys, as a coach and a player. But i guess you've got the perfect man to take over. I'm sure there are a few current or ex north boys that would be on the radar for recruitment for next season. Any guys on the horizon?

Interesting story about Lippo doing the U18s at Port next year, Luke Hosie mentioned this to me on Saturday as well.
Andy has done a very good job since taking over at Portland, i agree the players have responded well to him, hopefully he can get them over the line this weekend.
I would have thought Paul Marshall would be a certainty to coach Seaton next year. I reckon Greg Phillips asking price would be too high for Seaton.

I would love to say guys like Alleway/Allan and co but is early days and players of that quality will remain in the SANFL for another 12 months, I am sure Daryl will do a great job, IMHO we have a pretty good list, will be losing a couple obviously but every club will, I think the chance of getting any current North players would be limited due to their respect for the current coach at North but a few retiring may be a slim chance

Paul is well respected by most of the senior playing group, but i would also think the improvement in Seaton will come from the group of young blokes you have coming through. My understanding is that Paul has had majority of these younger guys in the B grade for majority of the year, so it may make their transition from B grade to A grade easier if he was coaching the A grade.
If Marshy plans on playing again this would probably change, as i am not sure a playing coach would work.

I agree with you Slots. Some of us that post on here from Portland played under Marshy a few years back. In some aspects it does work and some not so. Having his leadership on the fied was far more valuable and needed, but when he went off to do the changes etc we would seriously loose that edge. If he does want to play again which i think he might maybe an assistant's role or the like. He woudl still have the leadership and its group on toe but to use what he has and thas his playing ability concentrating on just that would be far greater. when he finishes up then definately coach a side. Same thing happened with our C grade coach this year and last. He was more needed on the field with his ability than taking the last 5 mins of each quarter and then not getting the full use of the break to talk to the squad and so on. I spose if you had people around in which i think Marshy would it can be done but you would need to have full confidence in them whilst your out playing

IMO the coaching job of the Magpies under 18s might depend on how they go in the finals.

I've heard that too which is interesting as Cove still in the finals race.

Only guy to coach a team other than MV to a premiership in SFL in last 7 years (pending this years result)

i would think that if Anderson was to coach GX next year , then both he and the club would wait until he has finished his commitment to Cove before any announcement [ which is only right ]
