Spelly, when was the last time a team achieved bitch status over Centrals?

Dont mind bitch status if we win another premiership. :D

yeah a premiership is still highly probable, but I reckon if Laird plays the Gowans in the granny this year then it might be a mistake ;)

Well put it this way...if Sturt somehow miraculously find their way into the GF then I hope they do play, because I believe we can cover them both comfortably now ...just an opinion

The Gowans twins are a liability at the moment. Will Laird risk dropping them for a final? If not, it could be a blessing for who ever plays them. They are clearly not pulling their weight in that side.

Just my opinion.

Hardy was excellent today for Central as were Gum, Herring and Nelson for the Blues. Very pleased that our season is still alive and that the lads have produced some of their gutsiest performances in the past 2 weeks.

You are probably right Purch. But Laird is focussed on maximising our chances of winning the GF. The twins have both been out of te game for a long time and need matches under their belt to peak. I find it fascinating that Laird chooses to play them - maybe at the expense of losing a minor round game or two - to give them the game time ready for the finals. I would think that come finals time we will be choosing our best possible team each game.
We used to be good :-(

On the contrary; you don't seem to understand what I said. We no longer worry about the Gowans boys. We can cover them comfortably, run off them even...

IMHO playing an injured Chambers in a grand final would be a far greater mistake ;)

Yeah, i agree. With one playing his first game back from injury and the other his second game back you would expect them to be fully fit and firing.

They are worth their value in the side just to see all your deep thinkers at the game foaming at the mouth every time they go near the ball......

Interesting observation doggies4eva. I can understand playing them now to find form. Do you really think Laird would drop one or both of them if they play a poor finals game? Surely there would be riots! ;) But I think that IS the test of a good finals coach, a la Phillips dropping Capt Thredgold in the 2002 granny. Perhaps they will run into form between now and then...I guess time will tell..

Want sauce with that??? ;)

Seriously...I ask this question...If Centrals didn't play crap in the 1st half, Sturt didn't kick those goals in a row during the 2nd qtr and Centrals on ball brigade had cleaner hands...what would the result have been???

Well done Blues! Very glad to be alive for another week.
Didn't get to hear much of the game owing to the problems with LIFE FM's broadcast, so I look forward to reading a match summary or two.
Too early to judge how the finals wil be played, they are a whole new ball game and we aren't even gauranteed a spot yet. So although I only know the scoreline and not much else from today's game, I reckon the Gowans twins may well be tanking for the finals. While they are still upright enough to take the field they still have the potential to turn on the old magic. That said, they can't play forever, and I defer to the unbiased judgments of those that saw the game today.
On the few occassions I got to hear some of the call it sounded like Giles was having a great day...
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
