Whats the general feel about David Kelly stepping up to coach Yank? Will he be a playing coach? What is Greg Whittlesea doing these days is he still involved with the club?

I heard that Yankallila offered the coaching role to Scott freeborne for 20k and he turned it down, is it the David kelly that played for GAZA..

Yank has always been pretty tight with its checkbook I doubt that they would have offered that amount a few years ago their highest paid player was getting $90 a game. David Kelly is a former best and fairest player with the club.

Is he a ruckman..

How are Goolwa Saints looking this year? A couple of my sons mates are going to play down there and he was thinking of going with them.
Is Willunga and Victor still the dominant teams in that league?

R and B, Willunga has dominated the Great Southern comp in last 3 or 4 years. Langhorne Creek have done well lately as well. Victor have been cellar dwellers (bottom 3) for last 5 or so years although there have been rumours that they're looking at recruiting a few players from Southern League next season so should be more competitive.

Anybody heard if Nathan Larchin from Aldinga has signed with Yank. Heard that on the Southern thread he would be a handy pick up for them I'd reckon.

Heard today that Encounter Bay are trying to sign 2 ex AFL players, both ex Power. They are meeting with one of them tonight. This comes from a very reliable source.

Encounter Bay have appointed Lindsay Bassani as coach for 2007. According to an article in last week's Victor Harbor Times he used to play for Central Districts and more recently in the Spencer Gulf league for Port Pirie.

Bass comes with a wealth of experience but not necessarily at footy. Has been doing a stellar job at coaching Team Hoff in the Gaelic Footy 7 a side comp at Gaza, these skills he has shown shoud hold him in fine stead for the gig at encounter bay. Bass has plenty of contacts wouldnt be surprised if he puts together a star studded line up for the up coming season.

The gaelic comp at Gaza seems to be a breeding ground for future gun coaches. Some of the names being mentioned at Encounter Bay are certainly 'big' - will be interesting to see if things happen.

Have heard also on the grapevine of perhaps some overseas recruits. Apparently he has just been to South Africa running footy clinics and has picked up some big south african dudes that are 6 foot 8 and over 120 kg's. They pack a pretty mean punch too so i have heard.

I have heard he is close to signing 2 of the famous Webber brothers - big coup! If he could sign all three, that would be the icing on the cake. Time will tell.

Yes i heard they were after one of them to coach them this year but he wanted way too much money, i'm quite surprised they're now trying to recruit him (presumably its the same player), would have thought he would have been off their radar now.
