Walker won the B grade count ahead of Perrin Hicks!

Pratt won the A grade count with a very consistent year, ended up on 20 votes.
Zac Ewer ended up on 18 votes, a fantastic effort coming from the bottom side that only won 2 games.
Matt Hodge finished up 3rd on 17 votes with a 3 vote game in the final round.

Well done to all award winners last night and bring on the finals this weekend!

Well that doesnt give it much credit. Hodge was OK by his standards - didnt make our best players though. D Iljcesen was clearly best.

Same discussion every year, but what you have to remember is that the people picking the votes have not got the football knowledge to know the ins and outs. As an example i think Zac Ewer got votes against Encounter Bay (correct me if I am wrong) He was injured and sat in the pocket most of the day and we lost by 10+ goals. Having said that looking back over the years, it is generally a great indication of who is the best and Pratt and this years top 3 is no different. He was many peoples tip and had a great year and Hodge and Ewer are quality players

Surely the GSFL need to look at the admission prices. $8 to see country footy is greedy. Wouldn't $5 entry still be financial for the league as they don't get any other gate takings for the season? I think attendance numbers would be far greater and they would still accumulate the same (or possibly more) revenue as more people would attend. Can get a bit expensive if you attend both finals on the one weekend. Not much I know but they should do a weekend pass or something similar.

Yeah I know LF, I guess we can be thankful the top 3 are considered to be amongst the top players in the league by most. Your example just points out that the umps sometimes go back to voting on reputation when not sure.

I was wrong anyway, it was 3 votes vs VH. Played well that day but Iljescen dominated and kicked 6

Well done to Zac...If I can remember he also was runner up in the Medal in the RMFL also. The year he won it up here he had a magnificent season. Somebody told me last night he also won the SANFL U/19 medal but was ineligible due to getting reported in the last game of that year....Will be interesting who he lines up for next season.

You hearing any rumours up in the RMFL Johnny? Heard Jervois are trying to luir Zac back. Ewer is a gun footballer and congrats to mail medal runner up in a team that finished botton of the ladder. How many games did Goolwa actualy win? Be interesting if he stays another year at a struggling goolwa.

Agree field of dreams last night noticed that a few senior colts even received votes playing a grade shapter(l.creek) and mcfarlene(strath only 1 a grade game for year). Surely these votes are encouragement votes that are not necessary in mail medal count. Teams that lost by 30 goals were receiving 1 vote when clearly there was no standout player on the losing team(no disregard to ewar he is a ball magnet with no one to kick to).

Jervois are definitely trying to get him back as he is worth no points. I hear a couple of clubs a bit closer to town are also showing a lot of interest.....He may not have to change his jumper colours?

I know Austin Macfarlane and the game he got the vote was agaist us at strath, must have had numbers mixed up because he only played about a quarter

Pencil in a Hourigan Domination in the underage medal counts, Darcy for 14s and Jarad for 17s, Fitzgerald from yank will go well in 14s and Dylan Wehnam from pongy will go close in the 17s too

I know of 6 clubs that are chasing zac (potentially more) and there is one with black and white colours. We would absolutely love him on board for next year but if he leaves there will be no hard feelings because he has had a great 2 years for us and when he decides to go or stay he will do it through the right channels and be up front about it. What we need to do is employ a coach and start the recruiting process (I believe 4 players have been signed on CFB contracts already) so that is looks as though we are been pro active.

Any Creek boys on here got any info on Tim Follett? Did he break his arm on the weekend and how much does his loss hurt your structure?

Fortunately not nearly as bad as it looked for Tim. He'll be fit and firing on Sunday.
