As big as you can carry Troy!

Remember a bloke at the '90 Second Semi had a Black and Gold 'General Lee' Flag which the pole* was about the length of a row of seats at FP. Seriously massive!

To my understanding there is no limit at SANFL games.

I used to make massive flags for Woodville / Eagles Cheer Squads.

As precuation I used poles that I could take apart into smaller sizes then wrap around other flags.

It was only once inside the ground and constructed that anyone would see the size of the flags.

I never had an issue.

However finals at AAMI stadium who usually run under AFL rules . which do have size restrictions for AFL games
(because of interfernece with other spectators.... not an issue for SANFL).

Even thought not AFL they may decide the maintain same rules ... to avoid issue I would say keep small at gates
and make large once inside ground.

At last years GF I had a 2 poled banner about 1.5m x 2m and didn't get any grief, however 76'er and other notables had the Chambo Choir banner(600mm x 3m?), were only 2m away from me and were told by Weslo not to put it up or they'd be kicked out. So go figure......from what I gathered flares were ok.

What about a banner with flares?
It's all the SANFL's fault.

When I was in the Eagles cheersquad my friend and I made this banner, took us about eight hours! Not sure how big it is - however big a bedsheet is. I reckon the cheersquad have still got it, I've seen it on TV a couple of times. :D

port cheer squad have a few huge ones, we do have one that needs a steel pole which is about 12-15 ft standing up, it brakes up into 4 parts so it can be packed away. Banners we do have a massive fence banner you might see it sometimes on the back fence at alby, but what you see there is only a 1/4 of it havent got enough room to put the whole thing up anymore ever since they got rid of the hill and built a certian clubs offices and gym, in otherwords mate, make your flag or banner as big as you want or what ever u can carry.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

I recall an Eagles cheersquad member taking about 5 minutes to put together a flag which was about three pool table sized. It came in three portions and each had to be screwed* in to assemble it. Buggered* if I know how he managed to wave it. I think it might have been before the 2000 PF.

The banner "THE BAND SUPPORTS THE 'DOGS" always gets a lot of attention! Some tool at Glenelg about 4 years ago tried to remove it at 3/4 time!!
