Looked comfortable and suited to the game yesterday.
Something that neither Jones nor Read have done all tour.

He's chirpy and that's a great contribution.
He does a wonderful job up to the stumps as well. It's nice to see someone so tidy to a paceman when he's at the stumps.
There are some concerns about technique, particularly in regards to positioning at the stumps for returns - but he's offered the Poms more than Read and Jones this summer.
But why, oh why wait so long to give him a go?
Makes you wonder how much better Stewart's batting/captaincy could have been if they'd given this bloke a go in his prime (if he's good enough now, he was then).

Only the Poms would rely on run-outs to take wickets...Aerie wrote:Dogwatcher wrote:There are some concerns about technique, particularly in regards to positioning at the stumps for returns
Yeah, I've never seen a keeper consistently take the ball like that for returns. It looks like he could get in a tangle, but in some ways it makes sense to take the ball before it passes the bails and could skim a few split seconds off for a run out chance. I wonder if we'll see this technique taken up by a few more wicketkeepers?
