Great result for the Tigers yesterday, can't hide a smile when i think Gaza went from 4th to out of the finals in one game. Big crowd there too, was good to be mixing it with our C grade. Not sure that the fact a few of them had more beer than i did is a good thing in preparation for their final today. Great effort by the boys to make finals in the first year back from Div 2.

I was going to come and say hello to the great Aceman yesterday at Gepps Cross, but couldn't get close to him after the game!! He was sitting on his stool with a hugh crowd gathered around like the king! :)

I hear there was a bit of biffo in the Goodwood v PNU game which could be a tad costly for The Saints with 1 or 2 on report and facing the tribunal this week. Anyone else hear what happened?

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

The Goodwood fullback couldnt get a fist on the ball so he thought he would try and knock someones head off... stupid move on his behalf coming into finals

piss poor control from the umpires i must say. the umpire was in full view of what happened, saw the big punch thrown, and only sent him (donaldson) off with a yellow card. no report was even made.

Who'd he punch BOP?

This happened a few years back in the last game of the season - against Districts, who were top of the ladder - and Puecker(was that his name??) clocked Cheesy a good one and got reported and despite an injury to cheese (who hates a head injury  ) he still got off. (or did he get 1 game, geez I have a crap memory nowdays :( anyway, you get the idea

We won the game. A habit of causing grief to top teams just before finals, if not in them ;)

he punched T Radetti. guess he prob didn't hit him hard enough as T ended up kicking 5 and the match winning goal, with donaldson moving into the middle and still not touching the ball.
pretty typical for cheesey to be the one copping another head injury. i think some sort of protective head and face gear is badly needed for him :)

Cuttings a great addition to any side, did he play at full forward on the weekend?
7 goals is a great return for his first hit out in the As, i think he's definately the X factor for Salis Nth & that sort of form will see Salisbury North replace Goodwood as the likely side to have a crack at Henley in the Grand Final.
Tylers done a very good job with the Hawks.

Two sides to every story BOP, pleased to see you reported them both.

Not shying from the fact that it was one Goodwood's dirtier days and the boys in the back line didn't have a great day with the quick fellas from PNU giving us a hard time. PNU played well for the majority of the day and deserved the win no question.

There was no report laid you are right and there was only one player sent off. That player was not Donaldson nor was this player the instigator, just happened to be the player who was seen. To say it was a big punch is also twisting things somewhat, no question he reacted and in the interest of the game the ump probably did the right thing to send him off.

Any particular reason you opted to name Donaldson?

On a footy note, there is a big reversal of form needed from Goodwood if the finals series is going to last any longer than 2 weeks. Looking at as many as 5 additions this week which, given current form, is unlikely to destabilise us too much... however they have all spent plenty of time on the sidelines in recent weeks.

Good to see Dean Cutting back for SN sake - not so good for us though! Outstanding player at this level who gives the SN team a lot confidence when in the side.

yeah just checked the program then, and must apologise for mentioning donaldson as the guy. i was not able to put a name to the face on the day, and that's the name i got given by others (who were obviously confused too).
sorry for dragging his name through the mud

old moz wrote:big crowd at Ram Park today..... unfortunately Broadies to good for GX for any inter- crowd banter. must mention an effort by Hudson in the last part of the game, game [and season ] shot , chased a BV player .even tho he was 25 metres behind , gained ground , another GX player came in, got the tackle and free , sent the ball back, forced out of bounds , Hudson sprinted back to contest the ruck and won it. not much i know but if his team-mates showed that much effort during the year ,,,,, who knows
main buzz around the "verandah" was the next coach of GX..... has been appointed but for once the committee is staying 'as one ' and silent. [ but may be an ex -afl player ]

Wasn't it out of 3?
Eddie Hocking was one who missed out along with Ricky Pearce.
I believe an ex Essendon, Adelaide Crow, Port Magpie has been appointed & its all hush hush.
He also coached another SAAFL Club to 2 grand finals. :o
