Most just get chucked away anyway, huge waste of paper. I love how after saying No to the previous 3 clowns handing the papers out number 4 and 5 still offer it to you.

Gives me a chance to practice my Jedi mind control trick. Amazing how none of 'em wants to hand leaflets to someone giving them an "axe murderer" stare.

There's nothing as inherently ironic as a greens candidate handing out "how to vote" cards

Sydney's public transport system - Adelaide's craps all over it (and that's saying something).

Like this morning, pull into Syndey Airport, get all the way down to the train line, only to be told no trains running to the aiport today, and to go back up and get a free bus. We were then herded into buses like cattle that aren't designed for Airport passengers (my mate and I ended up separated because of the egotistical Cityrail employees acting like nightclub bouncers).

Then trying to find a Transit Shop that was open on Sunday's to pick up our Sydney Passes was fun - ended up having to go from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay just to get our passes.

Also, you need a Ph. D to understand their rail network, it's a real mess!
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

My election edition of 'Things that give you the sh1ts':

1. People that complain about having to vote.

My suggestion for a new immigration policy - Anyone who doesn't want to vote, not a problem. We'll just do a straight swap for someone from China, Zimbabwe, or North Korea who does. Hell, we've got a good supply of leaky boats ready to make a return journey.

We get to vote = our country's not FUBAR. It ain't rocket science people.

2. People who scrawl stupid statements on their ballot papers.

"No-one - they'll all **** the country". On ya champ, way to make a political statement. I'm afraid the incumbent or outgoing prime minister doesn't read every ballot paper cast, just a few average joe's making a few extra bucks on the weekend. At least you give them a chuckle for being a massive douche.

3. People who think "Once is enough" is a witty and insightful reply to the "Have you voted before?" question.

Gees, if I had a dollar for every time someone said that to me yesterday. You get asked to stop dodgy **** trying to rig the election. It's not a stupid question, granted it might be slightly irritating but it's necessary.

Sorry everyone, worked on a polling booth yesterday and just had to get a few things off my chest.

Do people honestly think they'll make a lot of difference if they voted at more than one polling booth?

In Lincoln, there was 5 different places to vote.

Even if I went to each of them, and said "no sir I haven't voted today," that would only have given 4 more votes...

Hardly going to change the result (especially with Ramsey's 7% stronger swing), so why waste your time?

if a candidate in say Boothby got another 19 people to do the same then that is another 80 votes which could be enough to get over the line.....

Too true - we had a few to laugh at this time around also - but here's a thought - if you've stood in line, collected your voting papers and had time to write a 2 page essay - how about you just manage to put a tiny little 1 in one of the boxes :-bd

And - don't shoot the messenger = me ... lol.

Overall though - this is the first year that I hadn't come across someone who was completely rude and horrible - although the lady next to me had a charmer...lol.... 99.9% of people were really good only using what they thought was 'humour' ...lol.. no nasties or crazies

We had the local footy next to us - so near the end of the day had a few 'merry' people coming in to vote - but they were jovial - and quite entertaining :D

Very tyring stuff though

The cigarette plain packaging ad, for 2 reasons.

1. It's funded by the tabacco industry who don't have the balls to admit so.

2. If cigarette plain packaging is a waste of time and won't work why are you pouring so much money into advertising against it?
