Finals time! Does anyone know where finals are to be played? Are any ovals not fit for finals after yesterdays games? Had a bit of rain over the last week so you would think ovals played on yesterday may need a week off.

Terrific win by the Onkas A grade yesterday a magnificent effort by our lads and congratulations to all involved to get to the major round when they were written off by everyone. A truly great result considering the run of injuries at our club this year.
They will give the Lofty boys a run for their money if they play like they did yesterday. Well done boys and good luck for next week. GO U DOGS

Well said in the above post re feral behaviour by Lobey supporters. All they did yesterday was highlight why they should be demoted to country. Feral is being polite. Their A grade played good solid footy in appauling conditions and deserved to win. Ironbank played as if all they had to do was turn up. Problem for the bankers was that when they had 3 or 4 of their better players out as yesterday they simply did not have the depth of class to cover. That has been the problem the last 5 weeks for them. They are not far off a top 3 side when they have a full compliment to choose from. Unfortunately in a contact sport that doesnt happen to often. I have read the hasbeens posts and can't see what "lies" he has told. I think I know who it is and he is pretty spot on I reckon with it all. He has abviously been (pardon the pun) around the scene for a few years. I know he has played in premiership sides and he knows what it takes to be successful. Lets hope now that the HFL has the courage to nominate the correct club to go down based on the performance of the past 3 years. Thank god my kid does not play at Lobey.

And another thing, I think the above post is total poor sportsmanship, schoolyard stuff.

Gee I have upset some Lobey people have'nt I. I did not have the pleasure of seeing the game yesterday as I refuse to spend any money that goes towards that club at the moment. All I have done is spell it as it is. Everything I have said is fact. Please remember you are in an open forum and as such if you get personal it can be deemed slanderous. It is really easy to trace you and if you own a house .......... By the way should be a good finals series and well done to Onkas who at the end of the day deserve to hang on to 5th after being there all year. Go the cabbage for the flag - too big too strong. Hopefully Lobey are in country in 2011 - they may make the 5 in that grade.

Gee there's a bit of hate towards loby at the moment. Have they done something to upset a few people (apart from win a game)? Can't say I have experienced the 'feral' loby supporters because there is never any supporters at their games. I thought birdwood were the club to be relegated anyway, or is that saga still dragging on?

Joe - no hatred towards anybody. Treated as a business Lobey would be out. 3 games in 3 years, no supporters, crap oval yesterday by all accounts. My man at the game said they had really good hamburgers but there where more kids playing in the club house than members drinking at the bar. That is sad. I feel sorry for thier pres who is a nice guy. I slammed Ironbank at the start of the year but they got off their ass and won 7 games when everybody including me thought they would go down. In an even comp injuries play a role and that is apparently what did them no favours over the last 5 games from what I'm told.

Whats this I read on country that the Mt Ronny boys are up to old tricks when it comes to playing outside the rules when it gets to finals times. looks like they have an upset parent on their hands. - If true then that is disgraceful Mr Williams. Hopefully you lost the game.

Rumour is that Mt Ronny played kids in the Central U13s and then in the Country U13s final the next day and kids that played Country all year missed out on a game.

They lost to Meadows.

Pretty embarassing that result for Ironbank, something I really didn't expect. Did Blackwood rest anyone versus Onkas as was
rumoured?
Not that much could be read into the Lofty game, but in conditions that around the ball would (I thought) have suited the bigger frames of Uris, the younger Devs did alright. it was a hard fought game with Lofty wasting the last quarter going downhill. It was a quagmire so who knows how close those 2 teams are to each other but don't discount the Devs to give it a nudge, they surprised me a bit. A strange replacement for Wood as a late withdrawal too...
Should be a tops finals race.

What are all the ovals looking like? Will be tough to find two ovals in decent condition by the time this weekend rolls around...

Lobethal was absolutely shocking so that's out.

Our oval has held up really well considering the amount of rain we've had in the last couple of weeks. Any of the Mt Barker people may have a more un-bias view though. ;)

If we hadn't put the drainage in a few years back, the oval would be an absolute mess.

Doesn't the top end drain well but then the rest runs down the middle and the bottom CHF area ends up becoming very boggy?

Birdwood Sat
Blackwood Sun

Normally windy hill gets chopped to shreds, but must be OK.

Fingers crossed for a dry week this week though.

Nah, it's the opposite now - the best area is the bottom half.
The worst patch at the moment is right in front of the changerooms where all the run-off from the car park ended up. We've got some planned works for the off season to rectify this.

It has been done all year to help the country team field a full team. This is nothing new this year and sporting pulse would have all the details. Better to have 2 teams running around than 1 and 3/4 sitting around because of a forfeit.
