Good win to the Eagles, they wanted it more. Looks like they'll beat us to the third spot, and they deserve it.

After the first ten minutes, the Eagles set up the win with a good first quarter into the wind, and along with keeping Centrals goal-less the two quarters they kicked against it, we certainly dominated the game as much as any team "dominates" Centrals. But when they turned it on for the 20 minutes in the third quarter, they really turned it on and shows the difference between the sides that Centrals can only play 30 minutes and still only lose by four goals.

The one real reason to be happy is that it ensures our finals spot. But it was the sort of game we've seen plenty of times against Centrals, and don't think they'd be too worried with the loss.

Redden showed some moments, and hopefully he will be a consistent league performer next year or two, then we may not see too much more of him for a while. Rowntree another good performance for a youngster, and hopefully he will be a 200 game player. Lewis his usually self.

With Redden, Parry, Greiger, Grocke, Welsh and probably Salter and Hentchel, unfortunately Miles might miss out on finals action, which sucks, because while he might have comparably limited talent, his attitude and the way he wants to keep having a crack puts to shame many better players for whom it is all too hard and go to the amatuers or country for $$'s.

Well done and congratulations Eagles, from afar I didn't think you'd win but well done

Besides a 20 minute period in the 3rd quarter, the Eagles completely dominated play and should have won by a lot more. A great performance by the Eagles and an unusually timid performance by the Dogs.

The Eagles started well, but had kicked 4 points to Central's 2 goals early in the first term. Finally the Eagles scored a major through a kick across goal that was well intercepted by big Eagle Jarrad Redden. Whilst bad kicking is bad football, it still looked like the Eagles had control as they held a 3-4 goal lead at half time, with Central having not scored a major since early in the first term.

Central came out with fire in their belly in the 3rd quarter and hit the lead half way through the quarter. Were the Eagles going to get over-run again? The Eagles steadied in the latter stages and got back the lead before a Cochrane goal from the boundary after the 3/4 time siren drew the scores level.

The Eagles kicking with a very slight wind advantage in the last, dominated as they did in the first half and kicked away to win the game by 4 goals and keep alive their chances of the double chance. Central meanwhile are in danger of losing top spot to Glenelg with this unexpected loss.

I thought Lewis was again excellent for the Eagles and BOG. McKenzie is playing his best footy for the year and Polec added dash on his wing. Parry was the better big man and gives the Eagles a huge lift with his efforts on ball. Rowntree again goes about his business getting the job done and winning the hard ball. Thompson and Grieger were excellent down back and Jacky improved as the game went on, giving plenty of run from his half back flank. The only downer for the day from an Eagles point of view was Hentschel going off injured before half time and not returning.

Scotty Lewis has been the recruit of the year, huge show for the Magarey.

Thank you to Centrals' harder training regime for entertaining hope on a top three spot! :)

Interesting parallel with 1999, as we have now defeated every other team, except Glenelg.

It has been touched* on in other threads, but I just can't imagine what goes through peoples minds sometimes. To have the Glenelg/South scores as this late in the 2nd:
G 4.8 H 13.6

The ground abuzz with a huge upset on the cards, then the attendant decides to make the score this:
H 4.8 G 13.6

Obviously this guy was more interested in continually updating the AFL scores.

Onto the match. By the looks of things, the Dogs weren't quite themselves today. We seemed to have the desire for just about all the match, while Central had it for about half the match. A number of times, Central looked really slick, and in the first and third quarters had two goals in four minutes to start each term. But the ball was butchered a few times as well, I noticed the short looping kick out of defence coming unstuck for two goals. Having said that, our skill level is still fairly ordinary - bit better today, but not premiership threatening. Intensity wise was great.

Central's disposal was as bad as I've seen and the Eagles made them pay. The Eagles worked harder, dropping back then running the ball out of defence.
Our half forward line got destroyed (except for the third quarter). We had no real system and were often beaten out the centre. I don't believe we put as much pressure on the opposition as we normally do. A few players will be better for the run.
We really missed Williams and Lee Spurr (back next week). Sansbury was a late withdrawal due partner/wife in labour (nothing to do with the election).
The Eagles obviously will be happy with the win. Centrals have to play more than one quarter.

Fortress Woodville is still alive ;)
And what was all the talk about the Dogs Seconds they couldn't pick the ball up.Anyone else watch the seconds Rhetts first goal went that high it would have hit the roof in Ethiad Stadium!!

Oops my bad I thought Centrals were montys for this one, even allowing for the tail-end of their finals preparation.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

YOU BLOODY RIPPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

I was watching this game up at Aldinga but got sidetracked by the Sharks firing up in the second quarter and paid no attention to the TV after that. So I had no idea if the Eagles won - tried to get a score on my phone but the bloody thing wouldn't load the SANFL website or this one. I'm just stoked!

great, skillful & smart footballer but not an athlete so wouldn't make it in the afl as his leg speed is too slow for that competition, as for the magarey well he's a proven vote getter as he won a reserves medal a few seasons ago

Didn't someone at the bay say he was to slow as well Bayman ;)
I did notice today some fancy ruck taps by Parry that helped Lewis get loose with the ball.

Well done Central, went as predicted. No injuries, only need to win 1 more to get minor premiership, the juggernaut continues on its unrelenting, inevitable, undeniable path. You lot can argue or berate but why bother?
