The only motion that can work is Motion 8 due to oval availability. The others would be a logistical nightmare.

Not really, ovals would be the same. In place of a 2 day game a side plays 2 home one dayers or 2 away games at different places. Wouldn't be that hard to work out.

This is all very interesting - and I would think that a groundswell of opinion would be required (as well as a 66% majority - I think) from the voters to drive a historically very conservative governing body to make this kind of radical change. I think a toe in the water approach is the most likely one to get support - perhaps an introduction in the lower grades? I know getting player numbers to the right level is always a challenge - but I would think this has been an issue that is by and large addressed by most clubs already. I'm trying to understand the upside here for the clubs presenting the motions and player numbers would appear to be the only driver for this level of change. It certainly wouldn't appear to be from a quality of cricket approach....
I suspect all motions will be defeated once put to a vote - this has always been a very conservative association - with governing rules to support that view. Doesn't necessarily make it right though.

I would like to see the finals go over 3 weeks, giving the top 2 teams a double chance, meaning we could play a one dayer first up after xmas.
Home ground advantage dosn't mean anything, only 5 of the top 2 teams from last year out of 14 games in the semis went through to the GF.

Iv been saying the same thing for a couple years now. That adds an extra week into the finals which is fair for the double chance IMO.

Also the hardest week to find numbers at our club, would be the first week of the season, and the first week after christmas, so 2 one dayers in those slots would suit better!

Couldn't agree more - home grounds are nice but rarely equate to an advantage. 1v2 and 3v4 with loser of 1st playing winner of 2nd. Only possible downside is the week break - but the best side all year can get knocked out in a semi as it is now anyway.

Yeah! It also allows for the 3rd side, to get a chance to play in a GF if the first week is affected by rain or heat, and only eliminates one side because of it. Obviously it could occur on all 3 weekends but thats highly unlikely!

Also on a side note, another thing i like about our comp at present, is that only a third of sides make the finals. So you really have to earn a place in the 4. With the motion options, it would then be half sides making the finals. i personally do not like that!

Hopefully it doesnt get through tonight!

Nice commentary live from the meeting there CK.

No changes from last season, however a motion was passed to allow the assoc to change the format of matches. Therefore it is possible to establish a one day comp in a separate section. Good result really.

Good to see the one day motions defeated, just, last night. We aint far away from having something similar accepted by the association but I don't feel as though any club has got it quite right yet.

Good to see Cove formally accepted last night, I look forward to seeing how they go this year.
