The real Para Hills came to play yesterday and it makes you wonder where that form has been this season. Just a final word on the once again disgraceful umpiring we've been dished up this year. Those 2 clowns yesterday were by far the worst we've had this season. 3 reports,(the first time a PH player has been reported this year) 2 or 3 yellow cards in what was a physical but far from spiteful game. In those conditions there was always going to be a high number of body clashes. Those 2 inadequate umpires could not umpire a junior game let alone a Div 3 game with a lot at stake for one team. The people in charge down at Thebarton need to have a close look at what a debacle the umpiring has been this year in Div 3 AND NEVER LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN
Bring on 2011
I would have thought the 20 odd punches thrown would suggest it was definately a spiteful game.
Para Hills footy was too good for us, but they're still a dirty side. No sour grapes, they were too good on the day, but they play dirty footy. Intimidating umpires, abusing them, absuing the opposition. Not a good look. Shame, because they obviously have asome very skillful players, and perhaps the way they treat umpires relects the decisions that go against them?
On a positive note, They put on a pretty good day for their past players, and great effort by the PH Full-back to kick a huge barrel after a behind when teh crowd yelled for it!
Good luck to all in finals. Think PAOC will beat Iggies in the GF.
Para Hills were only a dirty side cause of the fact the oval was a bit of a mess and they got to the ball first. Just because you had a few lads that werent too keen on getting their white shorts dirty shouldnt take away from the fact that you guys were very ordinary (your own coach was less complimentry), especially playing for a finals spot against the 8th side in the comp who you didnt rate. There was never 20 punches thrown, 2 lads, 1 from each side got reported for throwing 1 each. A couple of little dust ups around the ground never got out of control. We had a lad that had his helmet ripped off his head, so it goes both ways. Maybe there was a little bit of frustration sneaking out as the game was done & dusted halfway through the 3rd.
It was good to see your coach & players coming into the changerooms after the game though for a couple of beers, it couldnt of been easy.
The goal umpire knew about as much as the field umps, calling a point when the ball bounced off the behind post, lucky the field ump knew that rule.
My point was not about the 20 punches (probably an exaggeration on my behalf),. And yes we were disappointing. I'll cop that. But my points were
a. the game was spiteful
b. the umpires struggled to control the game because of this
c. Para Hills were too good for us on the day as I mentioned previously and
d. You get a raw deal with the umps becauser you give them so much grief!
I think Your kidding yourself if you don't think you Para Hills Push the boundaries of what is reasonable.
But, again, well done, you were too good on the day, had us in the rooms after the game and I'm sure We'll both have a better crack at d3 next year.
Cheers
