At best, it needs to have a separate category... if not completely ignored!

I thought that's what T20 was...

When we played NZ with Punter, Catfish and co, with Chris Cairns sporting a massive 'fro, and McGrath feinting bowling underarm...

Now look at it...

Hate to be picky but... Hamish Marshall maybe????

There will be standard 50 over ODD games? I thought this format was replacing them altogether?

Also will these hybrid games now be considered First Class games?

they were originally going to play the first half of the season normally then the split for the second half but now they are playing a full split season

interesting that apparantly 78% of the players voted against this format but ca have come out and said this was what the players wanted? players association very unhappy with this - there was only 1 trial match between sa and tas and teh players didnt like it, england trialled it a few years ago in teh second xi matches and again the players didnt like it

ca also said their research said the 50 over game was the fans favourite version of the game and these changes are to keep it that way - um the 50 over game now does not exist so how can you be preserving this?

the only thing i am in agreeance with is the extra bouncer per over

all in all a stupid decision and i hope this experiment only lasts for 1 season

This ridiculous new preposed format is more likely to turn fans away from the game than attract new ones.

It wont be until the 50 over game is dead and buried before people realise how good it was.
The problem was that there were simply toooo many programmed which turned people off it. Two teams playing a meaningless 7 match series in 12 days which has happened regularly in recent years has killed the interest in it.

Can also see interest in the 20/20 game dropping off pretty quick if they program too many of them.

precisely - the ecb programmed a much extended 20 over season this year and the fans stayed away in massive proportions except for the finals - what does that suggest? that meaningful matches are of more interest and saturating the market only has a negative impact

this will be found out next season when ca decide to increase the big bash which is working perfectly with their 2 stupid provincial sides

well we had a snippet of what the players actually think with Shaun Tait completely dead batting a question about the new format, wishing to not comment on the question and wasnt to pleased when the reporter continued to ask his opinion.

Rubbish format, will promote rubbish cricket, and all this exacted by a CA mangement with a head filled with rubbish trying to get a step up on the poms and indians initial rubbish idea in T20 and IPL.

End rant.

It's in this strange environment that men on the fringe of Australia's ODI side must impress if they are to win a place in the World Cup squad, which is chosen in December. When the concept was being developed, 78% of players rejected the idea and less than a week from the first game, there is still some frustration lingering among the players.

"It is [frustrating], to be honest," the Western Australia batsman Adam Voges told ESPNcricinfo this week. "I was one of the players who voted against it when the surveys came around but they say it's here to stay. It is a little bit frustrating from that point of view. Unfortunately there's not a lot we can do about it, so we'll get on with it and we play the Vics here on Friday and that will be our first taste of it."
