Tonight I decided to finally lug my empty cans/bottles to the 24 hour redemption machines at Hollywood Plaza only to find they're 'closed for maintenance'

Today I decided to cleanup the garage and the 357 empty bottles and cans lying around and dilligently counted each one of them as I put them in garbage bags and then drove off to the local recycling depot to redeem some cash for the kids.

It's been a while since I've done that because I forgot that they're not open on Sundays

My son's school. He keeps getting in trouble and I don't think they're going the right way about dealing with it. Their approach is 'if you do something bad, THIS will happen' instead of offering incentives to behave better. I understand my kid may be a tough one to handle because he's quite precocious, asks heaps of questions and doesn't like following instructions - and he does get into fights with the other kids because he gets his buttons pushed very easily - but he's not a bad kid or a stupid one and I just think they're thinking about themselves, not him, in their approach to his behaviour (i.e. they want to make things easier for themselves rather than get to the heart of the matter). Oh well - time for me to morph into ultimate protective-mother/chimaera/basilisk and let them know what I think they should be doing.

Mark Latham. He is an absolute disgrace. This bloke used to be the leader of the Labor party and he's encouraging Australians to throw away their vote. Perhaps he'd rather we abolished the vote altogether? We could be the next North Korea.

x2

I take a genuine interest in politics, and think that I am going to vote on Saturday based on what I believe, and who I think best serves my beliefs, but I was happy to listen to what a former party leader had to say...

AND I HEARD THAT CRAPOLA!

Mark Latham interviews Pauline Hanson ... (-|

Jeez, how riveting was that? :-s

His media career won't even last as long as his brief leadership of the Labor party.

Junior boon breaking his thumb 3 weeks before he was due to go to the Gold Coast for a baseball tournament.

Not too proud to admit he wasn't the only one.

I'm sure he will. He's got some skills and it is a yearly event so perhaps next time around.

Just hope the school gives us our $1100 back.... :D

Punish the kids when they do something wrong. Why offer incentives?

The incentive is that they dont get in the shit.

The incentive is that they dont get in the ****.

Because I think too much negativity is no good for kids - particularly young kids, my son is five - and makes them a target for bullying. It's not that he's doing the wrong thing on purpose - it's mainly his physical behaviour towards the other children that's the issue - it's that he sees things from a different angle to most kids. The teacher suggested Asperger's but I don't think so - I think he just needs to learn some social skills. I was the same as a kid and I turned out OK (well, actually, looking at the top thread on this forum, I don't know about that! ). Anyway, I went and saw his teacher this morning and we're all going to work together to help him learn how to interact better with his friends. So we should get a good resolution in the end. :)
