Round 21 - Norwood v Sturt @ Norwood 7.40pm Fri 20th Aug

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 15, 2010 11:44 pm

The Redlegs at home this year have been very impressive and they will be hoping to continue that form into this week's game against Sturt.

The Double Blues have lacked the consistency of the previous couple of years but will be hoping to cause an upset against their close neighbours. Norwood are one of the in form clubs of the competition though and i think they can win by about 5 goals.

VINCE and KNIGHTS injured for the Crows today
Might mean JAENSCH and MARTIN get a gig with the Crows
Might mean WALKER might play and qualify for the SANFL finals [ AC beat BL which might mean Walker is still an out]
But them again will he be allowed to play finals

ST had a very torrid game vrs WA in damp conditions
NW had a bye
The game is under lights at The Parade

With almost everything looking to be in NWs favour that means ST should win on thier 2010 form !

Sturt by 3.141593 goals, with a Coopers Pale to wash it down with.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Norwood by 4 goals.
Walker will qualify, Craigy has nothing left to do after the end of the minor round, except barrack for Norwood (and probably Sturt).

Agree that the Crows could well hold the key to this game. With injuries to the crows the logical ones are Jaensch, Martin, Walker, Gunston. If Walker played up forward it could allow Porpoise or Dangerfield to play more midfield.

Sturt & Norwood fans will be sweating on AFL selection this week.

I'd hope Norwood would win without Walker, if he plays it'll be a bonus.

A crowd of 14114+ would be fantastic.

Would anyone be disappointed with a crowd of 1978 8)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'm personally not worried about what AFL players play or don't play... I think Sturt are more than capable of beating Norwood if they're on song, they're their own worst enemy this year.

Norwood can play some really good football, but if we play to our best, fast moving and accurate movement into the forward line, we're just as much chance as them to win the game, with or without Jaensch etc.

It's the Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde... if the doctor turns up, I reckon we're a good chance to win.

If the maniac does, we'll go down by 10 goals.

Yep this should be a cracker of a game, with Norwood looking to secure the double chance and Sturt looking to secure finals footy.

This is the sort of game I'd love to see as a neutral supporter but alas not this time. :(

I'd love to get there for this game.
A classic reminiscent of yesteryear. Two traditional heavweights and arch rivals fighting over a valuable 2 points that could make or break a season. With the finals just three weeks away, and on a Friday night at the Parade there isn't much more you could want in a minor round game of SANFL.
COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I think walker will be the difference between a small win and a large win. I would think Norwood with walker would win by 7 goals + and without maybe 2 goals. Hopefully Craigy will want to see Norwood win another premiership and helps us out by qualifying and letting walker play finals.

As far as I know, it's Tuesday today.

There's not much point talking about Walker right now.

The thing to keep in mind is that Norwood has a total of 4 AFL players. Only one of those players has qualified for finals, and that's Will Young. All year Norwood has been playing virtually without any AFL players (3 games from Walker, 2 from Rodan, none from Matt Thomas and about 10 from Will Young).

Going in to the finals (which Norwood can still mathematically miss I think), our team is not likely to benefit from an influx of AFL players who have qualified for SANFL finals, (notwithstanding those players have to be released to play and want to play).

It's not quantity but quality. But, yes Norwood have, can and probably will continue to win with or without Walker.
