Hand outs to the Power, hand outs to the Magpies.

"Please sir, can I have some more?"

Perhaps the rest of the SANFL can secede from them.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Who's more rooted at the moment ... Port or North?

Heard Firth on the radio this morning and said pretty much they will get the money in time and their immediate future is secure. They will get memberships for 2011 out early to get money by Christmas and the goal for next year is play finals.

Rucci just blowing it out of proportion again.

Well, if you listen to the powers that be at North the only indicator that matters is finances, on field performances are secondary....

Interesting that their CEO left about a month ago?

Didnt they have budgets and cashflows? If so they should have been able to forecast this cash shortage months ago, is this why the CEO left, cause he didnt pick this up?

BTW I hope they survive and if John Firth cant get them out of this no one can.

Banks and I assume the SANFL would have required fully detailed budgets and cash flows.
But perhaps something was missed?

I've liked hearing the optimistic but defiant tone in John Firths voice. He laid out their side of the story, pointed the finger at the cause and something tells me the SANFL hierarchy would have their collective noses out of joint about now. :butthead:

The problem as it appears is that whilst Port may be able to clear their debt the POW is not going to make the money that some or many think it will and that was the problem from day 1 when the PAMFC purchased the lease with a very poor deal from the then Freehold Owners who are also screwing them with rents etc.

It appears that the gaming revenue is not anywhere near enough to be a viable income stream so the business plan as tabled to the SANFL does not hold water.
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Probably where the terms "optimistic" and "realistic" were used by the Magpies and the SANFL otr.

The Magpies would have said it was realistic to expect that the revamped POW would be a more attractive venue for patrons and would in turn create more revenue. Build it and they will come.

The SANFL would have said that is optimistic.

I am unaware of the full plan put forward but I assume that may have been a significant point of difference.I agree with you, the POW needs a hell of a lot done to make it a genuine cash cow as each time I visit the place ( about once a week at least ) it isnt what you would call thriving. Would another new pokie venue in the Port area create that much extra revenue? I dont know.

Why would the SANFL have their noses out of joint if Port finally admitted that they had a poor business model and a non performing asset?

It wasnt a good deal with Prince Of Wales, especially when they are only leasing, went there last week for a meal and was pretty good, from what i was told a while ago the food was crap and beer was expensive but good too see they have tried to change, unfortunately too many pubs in area to compete with, hopefully with what little money they have,it will be invested wisely and Magpies will continue, same for any other team.
