You cant doubt our effort thats for sure, however we had chances to win the game and didnt!

It could have been a different story if in the first quarter we were 5.3 instead of 3.5, also we made some bad decisions when we had numbers and were running forward. We truned it over numerous times when we seemingly were under minimal presure and could have set up good goal scoring opporunities.

Effort was there yes, but i dont think we have necessarily improved that much. Effort will only get you so far and our skills and decision making are still frequently letting us down! They also made bad decisons but used the footy better and got the result!

Sloan continues to improve, Martin will be better for the run as will knights!

As I've said before I reckon the bad decision making will improve with experience. The important thing is that the intent is there - they are looking to play on and attack the game rather than chipping it around looking for the perfect avenue to goal, this is a very good thing.

Yeah experience will help both skill and decision making however i thought VB and Vince were culprits on a number of ocassions Martin a few times as did sloane and Henderson! Even Bock

Agreed the improvement with us has been trying to go forward with our handball rather than backwards like the start of the year. But if you cant make the right decison and execute it, you get killed when you turn it over as you are all running forward hard.

A huge mistake by the coaching panel leaving the 2 taller forwards together once the rain came. Not convinced with Walker, his efforts or lack of weren't there again.

Agree on keeping them up there together, they seemed to get in each others way. Mind you would have been a tough day up forward this week. No space at all to lead into and with the rain coming in takes away a big part of Tippetts game. Walker I like, but he is becoming frustrating to watch. He does the awesome stuff well, but really struggles with the stuff thats needed to win games ie lead, chase and kick "kickable" goals. He actually looks really slow at times or is that just a perception?

IN the past I thought Symes was ordinary but he has changed my opinion of him in the last couple of weeks.

Tippett really impressed me last night. In the second half in the wet when a lot of blind 'bombs' were sent into the forward line he worked his arse off to get to the contest no matter how far away it was. He did all the right things for a tall in wet weather for mine, he just lacked support on the ground level with no-one there to mop up and convert those contests into shots on goal.

Walker was out of sorts in the wet, no doubt about it. I did like how he worked up the ground though when it was clear he wasn't getting afforded much space up forward. In fairness his direct opponent wore him like a glove all night.

Still think these two have the potential to make a great tandem up forward, and the exposure to wet weather footy in the last couple of weeks will only add to their game.

Crows look so much better with Johncock back there. However I agree with the comment about lack of quality crumbers to do the "Stephen Milne thing". If we tidied this up what a huge difference it would make.
Sure, "Milnes" don't grow on trees, but more capable of converting in similar fashion would be very nice.

Anyone else get this email sent to them last night?

Thank you members and supporters
Monday August 9, 2010

This message is to thank and congratulate the members and supporters who turned up to watch us play the Western Bulldogs yesterday.

The easy option for fans would have been to look out the window and make a decision to stay home instead of making the effort to attend a game at 4.10 on a wet and cold Sunday afternoon. I was thinking of this driving to AAMI Stadium, when I passed Crows supporters who were walking to the ground in the rain. And most of you were still there at the end, despite the conditions.

Hopefully you felt some joy with the effort you saw from our playing group, to make a strong contest against quality opposition.

That’s what we are looking for in the next three weeks against Brisbane, Collingwood and St Kilda, because that level of intensity and effort will keep you in the game and give you a chance of winning.

Thanks again for your loyalty and contribution to your Club,

Neil Craig

No problem Neil!

Seriously though, nice work to send a message like this.

I was happy with the effort in the conditions but I think we went to ground too easily on occassions when the Bullies stayed on their feet...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Good call. Far too often we fell/slipped over allowing the Dogs to run off with ease.
