Agreed - he was outstanding today.

So above alot of some other unnamed players in the side that at present are just not performing to what I know they can do.

If I was on the board at South I would be signing Nick up right now!!!!

Get to it Ben and Co.!!! ;)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

last two goals of the first quarter was where the game was won. If that did not happen it would of been only 7 goals to 2 in the second term and only 12 points at half time that is a lot better than 24 points. Centrals still deserved the win just like last time will play them one quarter kill us in round 10 19 points down at half time turn into 66 points down at 3QTR and yesterday 18 points up at QTR turn into 24 points down at half time and the game was over.

South looked pretty good and competitive a lot of the time. Some fast onballers and some good grabs up forward. Liddle is very good, as he was for much of the game at Elizabeth earlier in the year. Seems like they just have a couple of lapses during the game that costs them, as it did against Glenelg and Sturt.
Central, had some pretty good passages of play also. Given the conditions (six goal wind) I thought the standard was quite reasonable.
Schelly still a couple of weeks away.
Just an observation, how come the trees don't seem to have grown around the ground in the last 15 years? It was probably bloody cold everywhere yesterday.

All he did was ask about the trees! And he's right, about time they grew enough to offer some protection from the wind.

None from the game that I was aware of but not sure why Lee Spurr didn't take to the field for the Dogs despite being named originally?

Allowing cars to park around the oval - good idea

One gate open at the end of day to let them out - crap idea

Massive fan of Liddle .... super player couldnt think of a player in the comp with a work rate better than his.
Would love to see him take out the Magarey. Would wonder if he could take the next step tho ... very small frame and probably doesnt have that explosive leg speed and penetration in his kick that AFL scouts would want to see of a player of his size. What kind of role could you see him play at AFL level ??

The Gowans, Thomas, O'Hara, Allen, Murphy, Bode, Weathers, Trotter, Ezard for starters. He just stands out because he has no mates.

Don't get me wrong, very good player and he does have a good work rate but the best in the comp, nup.

Liddle is perfect for South.

Will NOT get a chance at AFL level way to small in height and frame, plus lacks the speed and penetration with his kicks to be dangerous in the AFL

BUT...........................

Can become an elite SANFL midfielder which the Panthers can base the midfield group around and could possibly be a 150+ gamer if they can get him to stick around.

To be honest though i prefer their number 5# O'Keefe?, he wins the contested ball and is very accurate over the 40+ meter distance and tackles real well. Reminds me alot of a Daniel Elstone, Kristian DePasqule type when they first came over and played brilliantly.

With O'Keefe and Liddle i think the Panthers are on the right track recruiting wise.

Question? In hindsight should the Panthers have taken Cameron Cloke in the mini draft, im thinking YES.

I dont think so ... good chance that cloke may not be here next year . Think south made the right decision in picking young guys that are AFL development players (talia ) and gonna get games out of over a peroid of time. Think the focus is on steady improvement . Whether cameron coulda helped us pinch one or two more games maybe yes , but that really woulda had no bearing on what we get outta 2010 season as a footy club as a whole. I think Ron has done a fair job this year. Given the right people game time who will be better for it

Its interesting I feel to compare ex SAFC player now Essendon player Alwyn Davey and now Nick Liddle. Froggy still looks underweight despite two years of AFL training, opposition players do seem to shake off his tackles, yet his work rate is high and his experience is pushing his conversion rate of useful statistics steadily upwards. I would suggest that Liddle would have a similar opportunity to expand his game after being put into the AFL training system, he clearly has the head knowledge for what he needs to do and the natural instinct as a player, his ability to play the game will only increase at AFL level with the right coaching. - That said if he does not get drafted and stays at South that will be a huge step forward for us for season 2011!
