Awesome news. I met Danger last night at the Crows in Clubs night and there was a huge line for his signature. He was more than happy for a photo with my son. Think I have a man crush

How isn't he overrated?

People act as if he is the second coming or something, when at this stage he doesn't do that much, most of the time he does ineffectual things, like shank kicks and get tackled, on occasion he'll break a tackle and kick an awesome goal. Unfortunately while the good things he does are awesome, the output isn't good enough.

Now I'll hold judgment until he builds up a tank enabling him to move on the ball on a more permanent basis. However as it stands now the amount of praise heaped on him is not warranted.

I understand he is still young in both age and games experience, and I understand he as the potential to be a very good player, perhaps even elite. However, my one criticism of his game is that he does things too quickly, he doesn't take his time to dispose of the footy, very rushed in both body movement and speed of decision making, while this is great for a contested footballer, if he is going to develop an outside game he going to need to learn to not go at it like a bull at a gate all the time, especially when he has already won the ball and is in the clear.

I actually think this is a very fair and reasonale post.

I see Dangerfield becoming an elite player in 3-4 years, but my goodness he stuffs up a lot. His effort can NEVER be questioned which is something he has on about 90% of his mates, and he does a couple of freakish things every game, but he needs to do more and stuff up a little less.

I agree with that too. At the moment he is being hyped up as Taylor Walker is.
Both have great potential but still need to hone their skills and consistency.

I think we tend to forget just how young he is, along with Walker, Henderson, Slone and Tippet. Players like Dustin Martin at Richmond and Trengove and Scully at Melbourne are freaks! There is rarely a young player that comes into the system that dominates right the get go. I think that if we are patient he will become a dominant player in the competition, he will only get stronger and smarter as he gets older.

Well he wont improve his midfield abilities playing out of the goalsquare.......

I agree mate, think he is wasted playing up forward. Cant see him playing a massive roll up forward in the future myself. Would like to see him go up there when he is resting or a quick pinch hit.

Call me biased, but I rate Dangerfield higher than Scully and Martin.

Dangerfield will be Judd-like in under two years.

He has the ability and as mentioned potential, to be elite .. But as with many young stars (perhaps even moreso with Dangerfield), he needs to find that consistency of execution.

To be a top shelfer like Judd, Gablett, Bartel, Sellwood, etc, etc you really need to make a high percentage of your disposals count, and you need a high number of possessions.

He will improve both of these area's and there's no ceiling on what that level of improvement could be, but there is plenty required for him to reach the Judd level.

I have every confidence in him that he will get there sooner rather than later.

He's just working out he has the turn of speed and getting the body strength to bust out of packs.

I give him one more full pre-season and season before he's one of the elite AFL midfielders.

Has a broken hand apparently and is set to miss at least 1 week.

I thought he should've been moved to the middle last week after his 2 shocking misses in front of goal.

Regardless he'll come good once he gets a few more games under the belt. He's only played 39 at this stage.

I agree his place is in the midfield.
I'd use Davis and Bock in the defence and give Stevens a forward pocket now he has some confidence back.

Im not sure how his confidence could be up .. Sure he suits the Crows preferred structure, but if you watch closely on the weekend he was terrible, I can think of 3 things straight off the bat:

1. Lead the Richmond forwards to the ball in the 1st quarter on the weekend, but punched the ball when he could have marked unchallenged - Jake King then wins a free kick and boots their first goal when he should never have been in that position in the first place.

2. 2nd Quarter he gives off a terrible handpass to a teammate who was as hot as Jennifer Hawkins .. Turnover results and another goal to Richmond (Morton I think)

3. 4th Quarter - Allows himself to be outmarked when coming from the position of advantage in an aerial contest, Richmond mark and goal (Brown I think).

As with a few Crows players, looks good when allowed space and time, but his mistakes are terrible under pressure .. Thought he was pretty average in the Showdown too.

Not trying to assassinate Stevens because I've always thought him a reasonable player, but at the very least he needs a run back with the Magpies to find some form IMHO.
