Round 19 - Panthers v Central Dist @ Noarlunga Sat 7th Aug

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 01, 2010 9:04 pm

It will be top v bottom of the ladder this week at Noarlunga Oval and the Panthers will be desperate to avoid a large loss. The cellar dwellars have shown glimpses of form this year but will need to play 4 quarters of football to be competitive against the dominant Bulldogs.

Centrals to win by about 10 goals.

Forecast is fine and 17 degrees. At Noarlunga that will be 60 km/h southerly gusts, hail and 7 degrees

As for the game, the margin will be dependent on how many quarters Centrals play:

1 quarter: 7 goals
2 quarters: 13 goals
3 quarters: 20 goals
4 quarters: think that game in 2002

Meanwhile, each shot at goal will preceed with the following request: 'Almighty sound effects lady, do I have at least 2 numbers right' (followed by horn blasts)

I think South can tell their ground annoucer to have the weekend off, Don't think there'll be too many opportunities for "another goal for your Panthers".
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

if central come prepared to play with full intensity & for four full quarters the glenelg record of 49.23 would be in jeopardy of being broken,(presuming the weather is fine) after watching a hapless south yesterday, however i think central will do just enough to secure the points & win comfortably by about 12-15 goals
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

We might have to give Central players cream buns as well as donuts this week.

We will be a better prepared team this week.

No predictions forthcoming.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

Hard to see any way South will win this. Dogs have finals to play for, positions to settle and players keen for the run. No doubt Boyd won't be letting them take South lightly either. South have just look mostly outclassed this season. Too few players at the standard means those who are are under immense pressure. I suspect South are looking forward to next season already. Dogs by at least 12 goals, but even that might be disappointing (like the 14 goal win over North a few years ago under Clarkson when he baked the team). For South and their supporters sakes I hope some of the players show something and at least have everyone walking off the ground seeing some promise and a good all day effort. Should be a minimum requirement every week but this is South after all.

Why would We go flat out, risking long-term injuries? I think We are all in for a dull, boring game, Central will win but by under 10 goals. The minor premiership is crucial to Us, the extra week off is very important.

Screw that. 12 straight losses is enough.

I'm all sure all South supporters will be out to give Jimmy Boyd a warm welcome home. Although he is still a fair way behind a certain R. Archard as far as our favourite opposition player is concerned 8)

Anything less than flat-out is when you do get hurt. Dogs are too smart for that. 90+.

Way too late in the season to be taking it easy. Coming off the bye and with a 5 games left before finals (which may well see another week off) we really need to be humming in a month. The skills might be a little down but the intensity should be 100%.
