The fact is, Mawson Lakes have not played a good game all year. Angle Vale held them to half time the first time they played and it was ML's 3rd qtr that blew that game apart. It was their 7 goal 2nd qtr against CU that won them that game. Athelstone was only a 5 point win. It was Novosel's 5 goal 3rd qtr against modbury that rallied them to get the points.Glenunga were leading by 4 goals at half time to only be outscored 7 goals to 1 in the 3rd qtr. Adelaide Uni was a convincing win where they led from start to finish, but i highly doubt any of the players have acted arrogant nor made arrogant comments. From the examples given, i suggest that Mawson Lakes are the fighters who can make the comeback to win the game and it's their opposition who are arrogant and cant finish the task at hand. For Mawson Lakes to be able to tap in to an area with heavy competition from surrounding clubs- Para Hills, North Pines, Pooraka, Ingle Farm and the Salisbury clubs, and make this venture work is a credit to their players, coaches and administration. I do not think success at a football club can be measured only by gameday. It is it's whole operation. Mawson Lakes is sitting now outside the 5, it will be a struggle to make finals, it will a mammoth task to win the flag but i do see this club setting a foundation for its future and for that, Mawson Lakes should be commended!

I would imagine their chances to have dwindled... Mawson Lakes were a very good side but perhaps arrogance has gotten the better of them... In the nicest possible way. I will leave it to the Warrior to elaborate in his match report.

Arrogance PR? It's hard to be arrogant when you've won 1 of you last 7. Here's another stat to ponder too, when ML and Glenunga met last time, there were only 3 changes to the Rams side on Saturday. Mawson Lakes had nearly half a side different. Yes all sides have injuries and form slumps, but obviously Glenunga have dealt with them a lot better than the Saints have. If that makes Mawson Lakes arrogant, perhaps you and I have had different education programs.

Harder For Longer wrote:After reading pages and watching most games this year Mawson Lakes & CU are very similar, the only major stand out is CU supporters! They are feral, getting in on field fights, tooting the car horn in excitment when players get stretchered off - poor form. For those who say there's nothing that can be done that's a cop out!!! However, both teams have players that love to talk tough but when it comes to putting their heads over the ball are petrified (Cheap shot specialists)
King hits, headbutts, dropping the knees (coward acts) none of these things make you a hard tough footballer - head over the ball, body on the line.
I thought the idea of rocking up on a Saturday was to have a kick & catch with your mates, if these blokes want to show that they can fight change sports get in the ring take somone on face to face.
Mawson lakes talk about all the changes their making to be a better club? Win or lose you should still shake hands with your opposition, not sook becuse the umpire sent you off (B grade ruckman poor form.)

you speak of them like they are the perfect club they are extremely arrogant maybe you should hear what comes out of the players mouths and most of all the coaches, especially before
the season had started. There was talk of making div 6 easily in December last year, now tell me it's not arrogance and they weren't getting ahead of themselves. And tapping into an area?? They aren't a new team they are formed from at Pauls and looking where they are now it would seem they have gone backwards.

KingCarey wrote:I would just like to congratulate Glenunga on a great performance against Mawson Lakes on the weekend. Considering that there were 6 of the 'Best 22' (subject to change/opinion of course) out injured/unavailable and all due back shortly, it was a top effort! Was definitely the best defensive performance for the year with still enough offensive work to create decent scoreboard pressure. No doubt Mawson's probably had players unavailable too, but well done Rams!
Season's of football are long though, just ask Mawson's, and there is plenty of hard work still ahead. I am very much looking forward to watching it unfold, with great anticipation.
PS, any news on the two guys that went to Hospital from Mawson's? I hope nothing too serious, despite the rivalry!! I wish them well.

As i am sure you are aware, Houghton has changed its name more times than it has won premierships, the difference being the location of the club has never changed. From its inception in 1915 as Houghton to its failed merger with Paracombe, to its re-ignition as Banksia Park Old Scholars to its current return as Houghton Districts Football Club one thing has remained the same- its location. If you are not aware, Saint Pauls Old Scholars did not have a wealth of talent being fed from the school, it relied on local footballers and friends of friends to maintain its playing numbers. In 2008 the school made the club feel quite unwelcome and inturn the club had no option then to leave its home of over 15 years. The move has been a success, although recent on-field form may suggest differently. I am not sure who you are referring to for making comments in regard to instant promotion to Division 6. For all those saints players/coaches/officials who read this please speak up if you made such comments.
As for going backwards, Mawson Lakes have managed to secure an oval they can call home with clubrooms and still maintain and in fact gain a more dynamic and community based corporate partnership with many of the new and growing businesses that operate in Mawson Lakes. Its playing numbers have increased dramatically over the past 12 months and that is testament to the hardworking people who constantly promote this brand throughout the community.
And for the record- Mawson Lakes are 9-6, just like your mob are, if Mawson Lakes are going backwards then maybe you should look a little closer to home!

I wouldn't be too concerned mate, he who laughs last, laughs loudest. Units have shown over the past 9 weeks they are a real danger and i would anticipate Lakes to snap this form slump soon. I would still be confident these two sides will be a force come finals time.
As for not talking about other clubs, well i think probably because they don't have many members on the forums, people wont get much of a reaction out of bagging some of these clubs, where would be the fun in that?![]()
