Jarrod Kimber suggests Shane Watson should bat in the middle order
Whilst he is at it he should suggest Watto bowls leg spin as well
Watto fails 2 tests in a row with the bat and it amounts to this
Suggest Kimber looks at Wattos innings against PA as an opener last series

To the Katich critics who complain about his lack of 100s after getting past 50s
Another Kat half ton this innings would have been mighty handy

I didnt think the Aussies batted as badly as Kimber suggested
Those commenets detract from the fact that the 3 PA quicks bowled exceptionally well in the conditions
In fact the PA quicks have bowled well in the last 3 tests v AU , just that the feeble white flagging batters have batted at times without a brain and cost them victory

AZHAR ALI
66 BALLS
30 RUNS
Suggest Ponting looks at the video of this innings
A 3rd man for this batter and he would have made about 15 runs
I dont think I have seen a luckier Test 30 for quite a while

WATSON 2/12
Where would Ponting be this series without his batsmen taking wickets
Watto and North took more than half the wickets last test
The trend is continuing

This test looks lopsided
History shows it is still evenly poised

36.36% lbw
52.94% bowled or lbw including an extraordinary run between 14/10/2005 and 4/12/2009 where he was bowled or lbw 78.95% of the time (15 of 19)

I kept saying this all during the Australian summer, we gave the Paki's over 25% of their runs through this region, it was evident again in the Lords Test, there's nothing more frustrating for a fast bowler than seeing a cracking delivery go whistling into the fence down at 3rd man.

He has a major flaw in his technique and it will not be sustainable against quality bowling attacks as an opening batsmen against the new rock. He missed that one last night by half a foot....

Way too high for an opener. Compare to Matt Hayden.......

184 Innings
21 Bowled (11.41%)
26 LBW (14.13%)
110 Caught (59.78%)

Good openers don't get out bowled or LBW

I'm actually an England fan (he says ducking for cover  ) and I'm interested to hear the thoughts of the esteemed members of this list on Ricky opting to bat...and his continued struggles while on this tour and somewhat earlier than this...?

Yeah, great move, green deck, overcast, let's bat.
Katich flirts with danger all of the time and is always going to be suspect on a seaming pitch the way he shuffles across the crease, I think it's fair to say that it nets him a fair amount of runs generally though.
Watto's strength is his stroke-making which is going to be somewhat retarded on such a wicket.
Punter forgets what that piece of English Willow is in his hands early on in his innings and I think his eyesight is deteriorating.
Pup was a little too aggressive on such a wicket, he'll learn from it and is better than that.
Huss was ripped off.
North is so out of form he doesn't know what he's doing out there, he nearly popped his shoulder out trying to reach it. There was no chance the ball could've came back in at him from the angle the part-timer was bowling.
Paine is no Haddin but tries.
Smith tried the aggressive approach..................didn't work.
Mitch faced a ripper first up.
Hilf and the Rug should not be expected to play long innings'.

Stuff history, stuff team rules, if the conditions are crap, go for plan B, we could've cleaned them up just as cheaply with the ball darting around like it did in the first session.

Tough critic there Senor, comparing just about any opener to Hayden is just not fair, imagine if he debuted when he was starring for Queensland, he'd be in the top 3 leading runscorers.

Disagree. Live it looked a good shout. Yeah he got it wrong but by Rudi's standards it wasn't that bad LOL. Hussey lost a bit of balance and that might have convinced Rudi that The Huss was gone. Unlucky, rather than a howler IMO.

i would tend to agree - the ball pitched in line and straightened which is the main thing looked for when right armers are bowling to left handers, its not the hawk eye had it missing by a mile - only a couple of centimetres

does it really matter how they get out? looking at those stats you could say hayden couldnt control the ball very well when he hit it as he was out caught a lot

Well what can you say? What a friggin DE BARK L. 5hit decision to bat first. We bowled the Poms out for a hundred on that same deck last year. We would have cleaned the Pakis up for a hundred and been only twenty behind on the first dig if Captain Clueless bowled first ;) . Punter remains a dud captain. How can a guy who has played so much cricket have so few clues??

Captan Obvious just called to tell me we batted poorly but I really enjoyed the fine display of swing bowling by the Pakistani bowlers who used the BOWLING RICKY BOWLING conditions to perfection. Amir looks a real talent for Pakistan who will go on to have a fine test career because he won't be breaking his back trying to get something out of flat Pakistani decks.

I don't think you can complain about the majority of the batsmen's mode of dismissal. The Kat looked solid and remains and LB candidate with his shuffle across the crease. He missed one that would have hit. Watto was trying to play straight. Pup tried to take the attack to the bowlers...someone had to give it a try and Hussey was ripped off by the Terminator.

What really fried me though was North's dismissal NORTH YOU ARE SERIOUSLY AVERAGE. Send him back to the Sheffield Shield please! North is now a senior member of this batting line up and he threw his wicket away to a bowler that I reckon I could face NOT GOOD ENOUGH SON. **** him off!

After North got out I watched the Sopranos instead because that would have been less violent than my reaction to North's dismissal. The commentators said 'he'd be kicking himself' but I for one am willing to volunteer for this task. FFS.

Well done Pakistan a fanastic effort on day one and our batsmen have given our attack no hope in this match.
