1951 Jubilee Celebrations

Postby Leaping Lindner » Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:08 pm

This is an interesting old photo. It was taken during the 1951 Jubilee Celebrations, to celebrate 50 years of Federation. Various events were held around the country and in Adelaide it included a parade down King William Street of the eight SANFL teams.

Great pic LL.
It looks like Westies' guernsey is the one with the Sturt Desert Pea on the breast.

Ah yep, that's it. I don't think it's 'WA' though. It's a W on top but it looks like two upside down V's underneath. Maybe Mark Beswick can help?

I think that photo is of Brian Faehse (?), after whom the Richmond Oval grandstand is named.

Brian, well in his 80's now and looking great, was at the game on Saturday.
